"Hood and defends hoodlums. Notice his face is on city transit for a reason"
"I was wrongfully accused in a custody case; it was easily proven that I did nothing wrong, the judge dismissed the accusation of contempt of a parenting plan. When discussing that my expenses for counsel be paid by the accuser, my lawyer "broke down" the amnts paid by me to his firm for the judge, totaling my expenses to be $2800. He completely failed, either on purpose or accidentally, to mention that his firm, on TOP of the hourly fees, charged me a non-refundable $2500 as a "reservation fee", a fee we believed from the start to be the minimum charge, meaning if they worked less than the amount of hours to total that amount, that amount would be the minimum charge. We were told AFTER the fact that it was simply a non-refundable charge to our ****$5000*** retainer, billed on top of all the hourly charges. So the judge, in making his decision on how whole to make me at the plaintiff's expense, thought I was only out $2800, when in fact I was out $5300. I had a right for the true amount of my expense to defend myself against foolish aspersions and false accusations to be known by the court. The amount I was given was a paltry pittance: only $450. If the judge knew I had been charged nearly TWICE what was attested by my counsel, I very well could have been made more whole. I at LEAST had a right for the correct amount to be KNOWN by the court. If my lawyer said IN COURT that my fees totaled $2800, that is the amount I should owe, and I should get back the remainder of that retainer to total $2200. WHY did he neglect to inform the judge of the REAL amount I was to be charged? Why keep that fee secret from the court? We have been ghosted now, the only reply we've gotten is "you signed the contract". Our lawyer will not contact us to explain why he didn't mention we were actually paying TWICE. The paralegal said "would it really have made any difference ANYWAY?" arguing that she thinks it wouldn't have mattered at all. She said "let's say the judge gave you TWICE that, would it have mattered at all? An extra $450 is NOTHING" and I said "Not to ME, it isn't! And I had a right to have the correct amount properly represented in court, regardless." Another lawyer at their firm said "you're LUCKY you weren't charged MORE." Two very weak responses and very weak arguments for why the amount I really paid wasn't properly represented. The REAL cost of my counsel was in direct relevance to the reason we were THERE in court, to see how much I was to be made whole after being falsely accused and it PROVEN I was innocent of contempt. When that amount is underrepresented by HALF, it surely affects the outcome and I believe it DID. Still, no contact, no resolution, they've got my family's money now, so, I cease to exist, essentially. I'm going to at least send the final bill to the court so they know for REAL how much I really was charged in the end, because it matters when the reason you have to pay for counsel is because someone was proven in court to have lied about their accusations in the first place. I have since been ghosted entirely. NO explanation as to why he misrepresented the amount I had spent for counsel. Nothing. UPDTATE: Only from finding our phone records were we able to get in contact with the lawyer, and all he said was that he INTENTIONALLY misrepresented, underrepresented the amount by nearly HALF in court because he, and this makes NO sense, he "thought that by saying we had spent LESS on counsel that somehow the judge would give us MORE". This answer after ALL this time is just a kooky-dooks middle finger to our faces. Makes NO sense in even the barest forms of logic. WHY would a judge give me MORE recompense for the RULED UNFAIR situation I was put in if he thought I was in the hole for HALF the amount I actually was? Insanity. Backwards thinking. Probably lies. What REAL reason could there be for intentionally lying to the judge? He didn't WANT me OR the judge to know about that fee until it was too late. I'm going to let the judge know what we were REALLY charged, and the dumb reason why my lawyer lied."
