Reviews
"My wife saw a story posted on IG about this place and wanted to try it out. The menu looked very appealing, and from what we saw from other reviews we decided we would do our 36th anniversary here, my intuition was to check it out first to see if the atmosphere was appealing enough to celebrate such a milestone. I'm glad we did because although we didn't think we would enjoy a special moment like that here, we thoroughly enjoyed our food. We had the fried green tomatoes starter as our appetizer, It was delicious over a bed of mixed greens and pickled red onions. My wife ordered the fried shrimp plate, which she enjoyed. She never cleans her plate and was full when we left. I had the seafood gumbo, which was very rich and flavorful, I also had a side of red beans and rice that I took home. The crowning jewel was the rum cake! So good, we ordered a 3rd slice to go, lol. This place is a very short drive and neatly tucked away on Old Chapel Hill rd. The menu is compact with a good selection of authentic dishes, and we look forward to returning."
"Definitely make reservations here the place is small. We ordered the fried green tomatoes and fried chicken plate. Both were very tasty and filling. Atmosphere was a little loud and service could have been more attentive. Overall good dinner spot"
"Yum! We are the succotash (amazing), gumbo (left a bit to be desired), jambalaya (also amazing), and a special appetizer of potatoes and some of the best brisket I’ve ever had! We will definitely be back, can’t wait to try their drinks!!"
"The food and service was wonderful with plenty of food! I couldn’t decide and got a sampling (cup) of a few items. Literally ate off others plates and absolutely nothing was bad, even the pineapple tea was such a treat!! I’m so disappointed I got so full I was about to pop that I forgot to order dessert but I’m so looking forward to telling anyone who will listen how good this is! Only feedback is I wish they had fountain drink/free refills with the exception of the house made drinks vs canned."
"Susan and Juan at Succotash helped to make our wedding the most perfect weekend we could have possibly imagined. We are so grateful for all their time and patience in working with us over the months leading up to the event and their flexibility in working within our budget. The food itself was phenomenal. Countless guests told us it was the best food they’d ever had at a wedding! Their food is creative, delicious, and can fit any occasion. They were also extremely thoughtful and flexible when it came to accommodating various dietary restrictions. We highly, highly recommend Succotash catering!"
