"Great place to eat. Delicious food. Only negative...as a first timer, I walked in and had no idea if you sear yourself or wait to be seated. No one acknowledged my presence so I had to just grab someone walking by in order to find out you order at the front and then seat yourself. Loved the food though. Everything I tried was delicious!"

"We visited Mad Hatter years ago when we first visited Durham. I had such good memories of the best vanilla cupcake I’d ever had! We went again this fall to get a cake for my daughter’s birthday and also got a cupcake and cookies (because why not?). Unfortunately, none of it was tasty. The cake was beautiful (!!) but the icing tasted more like butter than buttercream and the cake itself was very dry. The cupcake and cookies were similarly low quality. We threw every bit of it away and bought a cake at a grocery store. I cannot say enough about the beautiful atmosphere and the super friendly staff in store, but we emailed to let management know about the poor quality of our desserts and never received any response. There are better (and cheaper) desserts in Durham, so we won’t be back. Bummer."

"Haven't been to Mad Hatters in probably 15 years. Mom and I wanted some place to get a quick breakfast as a start to her birthday daughter day. She got the toasted croissant, and I got the spinach and feta quiche with the arugula salad. Both were delicious! The croissant was overflowing with egg and cheese. The quiche was cooked well, and the citrus dressing on the arugula salad was wonderful and tangy. The coffee was excellent. We finished off with a salted caramel brownie bar.... um, so so good! They shop was busy, but they were getting people taken care of fairly quickly. They also have nice outside seating for nice days. Great visit and start to our day."

"Very nice location super convenient and plenty of parking. The venue has art for sale showcased by a local artist - which was cool. I tried the Match Latte which arrived warm.... I also ordered a regular latte which was better. I ordered the French Toast with Strawberries - the strawberry sauce was not for me, it was a maybe a pre-made strawberry compote? I don't know, but it wasn't for me... had to scrape it off and they didn't have syrup or another alternative. The grits bowl had a SPICY pico toppimg.... and we tried a mozzarella-tomato sandwich which was OK. The fries were a winner and lastly I bought a loaf of the Apple - Rum Raisin bread to gift a friend. 3 stars for service because the cashier was a bit dismissive and uninviting."
