"Update - Jan 2024 Save your time and look somewhere else! They have changed managers at least twice in the past 6 months. The office staff is overworked and unresponsive. They will change your rent without proper notice and the monthly statements are not clear. When I had to relocate for repairs, I had to find the place, pay for it, and pay my agreed rent. It's now been over 50 days and I have not received reimbursement. The current manager has no clue of what I'm talking about and didn't even try to investigate. It may look nice online but it's really not. If you do move here keep all documentation, and log every interaction with all staff to protect yourself. It's truly a nightmare. Update - Nov 2023 I thought this was a nice place to stay. I feel like since Jordan, a previous manager, left everything has changed. The office staff, the manager included, are nonresponsive and make empty promises. I don’t know who the manager is because it’s changed several times. Lately, management has been sending emails that are unproductive, unprofessional, and poorly drafted to residents. While what was said is true, The Retreat is turning into The Trap”, it was ghetto and unbelievably unprofessional. My biggest issue is that I have had an active mold problem since June that was treated once, only for the issue to return a month later. The stand-in manager at the time, Natoya, stopped by, unannounced, to “document” the issue. She took a few pictures and said that we may have to leave the apartment while the work would be done, she said she would be in touch. That was over a month ago. When she smelled the smell coming out of the bedroom closet she was even repulsed by it and yet, no one has contacted me. Every time I call the office, I’m told someone will call. Lies, no one ever does. If someone outside the management office sees this I would love to have a conversation and see how this can be rectified immediately. I pay my rent, on time, every month and the expectation is that repairs will happen in a timely manner. I truly expected more from this place. Save your coin and look elsewhere. if you want to know the vibe of the apartments, come in the afternoon on a weekend. You’ll see kids running around, trash overflowing but none in the dumpster, people working on vehicles, at any given time. Or better yet, try and call the office, so you can leave a voicemail and never have answered."
"I would like to thank our Floating Manager Natoya Kelly for her amazing customer service skills and support. She listens and acknowledge you when you have issues and goes above and beyond to make sure she answer any questions or solve any problems you may have. Thank you so much for all your hard work. I truly appreciate you."
"Neighborhood is ran down already! Trashed! Trash every where! Residents don't take care of nothing. Daily shoot outs...parking spots so small you can only park your bicycle! The pool is so small it's embarrassing. Hope everyone doesn't want to go all at the same time. It was a bad idea. Not to mention the pipes bursting in every building already. Elevators always going out cause people can't keep their kids out of em. Do not recommend!"
"I'm so thankful. The staff was so efficient, so caring, so patient I'm 75 and I needed all of that. Miss Natoya Kelly she is very clear in her explanation of the process or should I say the new process of paying my rent and water bill I'm very grateful and thankful. However, when my rent was taken from my bank, the amount that was taken was wrong, instead of $137 something, they took $150, also my rent statements have been wrong, I have a two bedroom apartment. Which means, my rent when combined with what the government pays should not be over $1000. Why my water bills are never over$60 as a matter of fact the bill was the highest month. So please look in to my account and clear the problems. Norfolk redevelopment housing authority subsidized my rent I pay my part of the rent I also have to pay for water and I do. Never late paying. Thanks for your attention Arlene Barber Building 390. Apartment 202"
"I am so grateful and lucky for the last month when Ms. Natoya Kelly came on the the team. She is so genuine, patient, hardworking, & dedicated to helping us as residents. She takes the time to listen to us & get the work done in a timely manner, if she doesn’t have the answers right then she will fight to get it done. She also keeps you posted on the progress. I wish we had more hardworking, dependable, and compassionate people like her, who cares for us residents."
