"New management company as of 6/2023. Review of their poor communication and customer service. I am not a resident. I’ve had 5 friends live at this building in 2018-2020. I liked the layout and amenities when I visited. They didn’t have issues with bugs or thin walls. They said mgmt was receptive. HOWEVER, there is a new mgmt company now so be weary of all the good reviews before 6/2023. I called four times and even called their sister building, Hauge Towers, to inquire about leasing availability. I left messages and did not get calls back. I emailed and finally got a response. I asked to set up a phone appt. They didn’t call me. I wrote back to them via email and told them I was concerned how they’d respond to residents and I got a call right away. Wow, had to light the fire. The rep said it’s only her and her manager right now and they just acquired the building. Ok understandable. But she was RUDE. She couldn’t be bothered. She asked again what I was looking for even though my voicemails and emails all said 2-3 bedroom. Poor attention to detail. They didn’t have any units available when I needed but didn’t bother to ask if I wanted to be on the waitlist. Hey, it’s a naval town, people come and go all the time. Last minute availability happens. She really didn’t care by the tone of her voice and how quickly she hung up. Beware new management."
"Previous Resident. During my stay there were roaches for most of my lease, despite the space being kept clean and even after having pest control in the apartment. You also don't get to control the heat or air, only if you want it on or off, no temperature control. It gets unbearably hot in the early summers because they only switch the system to air once. Upon moving out, it was brought to our attention there was a refund to our account. They misspelled our forwarding address and screen all calls to their front desk. I've called 43 times over the past 6 weeks and have gotten through only once to have the person say they'll look into it and send a follow up email or call, which hasn't happened. It's now been over a month and a half and we have yet to recieve our refund. If you plan on leasing with them. DONT."
"Pembroke Towers as my home. My Unit: The view from my unit is breathtaking. I consider it a million dollar view of Norfolk Skyline, most specially at night it is so beautiful. Pembroke staffs: PT staffs/employees are very approachable, accommodating and non-intimidating. Meeting them along the corridors, they always greet you with a smile and the staffs are very helpful. One thing I do appreciate from PT management is they respect your privacy. What I mean is that if there is a scheduled maintenance in your unit or in all units in your floor. They inform all the residents well ahead of time. This, to me is important because it gives the residents time to fix their schedules to accommodate the maintenance work, and they even accommodate suggestions. Do keep this up.!!! PT Management always gives residents updates. Work orders: PT management acts on work orders accordingly as to the urgency of the work order. I did not have any problem with the work orders I placed because my units kitchen drainage was not working and it was immediately fix. The light bulbs in my kitchen immediately replaced as per define by the work order request. I am more than satisfied. I am looking forward to staying here at Pembroke Towers my home away from home."
"I scheduled a viewing and there were a few technical issues with finding my information, and Ariel was very prompt and helpful in finding my information, and scheduling me in for a viewing last minute! My experience with her as a tour guide was phenomenal. She’s super professional, knowledgeable, and a sweet personality. I’m extremely happy with my experience here. The manager on the other hand I didn’t appreciate. She seemed to have an attitude and very off-putting. I’d give 5 stars alone for our tour guide. The manger would be the reason I don’t sign."
"I first moved to Pembroke Towers in 1992 and still remain as a satisfied tenant. Before coming here, I lived in Virginia Beach. One thing I have learned is that I am more of a Norfolk person than a Virginia Beach person. I also rediscovered my love of the historic Ghent section of Norfolk. It all began when I attended Blair Junior High School, now named as Blair Middle School, back in the 1960s. Norfolk is my home. Ghent is my home in Norfolk. And Pembroke Towers is my home in the Ghent section of Norfolk. As a single person and senior citizen, I rent a studio apartment unit that has just the right amount of space to suit my needs. My walk-in closet provides me with plenty of space for my clothes and storage as well. I've seen a lot of changes at Pembroke Towers during my stay. The most prominent change has been a new management company that has been adding new renovations and amenities since they took over. We now have an exercise room, a social room with a TV, and free WiFi in the lobby. The hallway on my floor has just been beautifully renovated. The staff members have been friendly and supportive. The maintenance team members are always responsive to my needs and take care of any problems that arise. The following are some of the things I love about living at Pembroke Towers: The Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is located right across the street, and I can walk there in about five minutes. This has come in handy many times. One day last year, I was having symptoms of a medical emergency. I immediately walked on over to their ER and was admitted for an overnight stay. Fortunately, my symptoms turned out to be a false alarm. My physician told me that I did the right thing by walking on over. He told me that an ambulance probably would not have been able to reach me in five minutes. If my symptoms were serious, this could have been a life saver. I can walk to my dentist and primary care physician in about thirty minutes. I am in easy walking distance from several of my favorite Ghent restaurants and a local grocery store. My unit provides me with a beautiful and spectacular balcony view of the Hague and the Norfolk City skyline. A photo from a recent December morning is included. I love being able to walk to the Chrysler Museum and viewing the beautiful homes along the way. I can walk to the Tide station at Fort Norfolk in about five minutes. This comes in handy whenever I want to go to downtown Norfolk and don't feel like driving, especially at night. All of this walking provides me with plenty of exercise, and I can actually get by without a car. I also love the additional exercise our outdoor pool provides during the summer. I have found the new management team members to be very proactive in the steps they are taking to maintain and improve my level of satisfaction in living at Pembroke Towers. When it comes to living in Norfolk,. I don't want to live anywhere else."
