Icon Norfolk Apartments

"I’ve lived here two years, and renewed for a third. The good: front office staff are friendly. The building is beautiful, secure, and has a great location. The unit is nicely kept, truly cannot beat the location or views, which is why we have stayed despite numerous problems. The bad: But there are problems with aging appliances, maintenance takes literally weeks to sometimes months to reply, and amenities are often broken or out of service. No one works on weekends so things often go Fri-Mon broken. Maintenance team needs to be expanded to accommodate the aging apartments. In the two years we’ve lived here, we have had: 1) washing machine leak multiple times, now it retains water and growing mold spores (open ticket, was told someone could be in my unit in 4 days despite water flooding my unit), 2) my upstairs neighbor flooded my guest bathroom, maintenance took 6 MONTHS to repaint the ceiling , 3) refrigerator has stopped working, 4) oven has stopped working, and most recently, 5) we’ve had a maintenance ticket open for four weeks to replace a microwave as it is not usable. Walls are VERY thin. There are a lot of units and I can be sympathetic to slow turnaround, but at well over $2k+ for every 2 bedroom model, you expect things to function properly. The building is only cleaned M-F and events are hosted on the weekends on the rooftop. This, plus traffic, leads to dirty elevators and common areas every weekend. Overall, it’s a mixed bag. It’s renting an apartment. You’ll be safe, it’s generally clean, and we’ve seen very few bugs or rodents on the property. You cannot beat location and safety for a downtown apartment."

"I came to icon Dec 2019 & I’ve been living here since. There are pros & cons but overall I really do enjoy & love icon!!! Pros: 1. The apartments are absolutely beautiful! Especially the floor to ceiling windows & views. Also the amenities are very worthwhile. 2. The staff is extremely nice & helpful. Especially the Property Manager Kat. She’s truly the best ever. 3. The location is amazing! So much is in walking distance. 4. The residents are very friendly and community here are amazing. There are sometimes events to mingle. 5. The building has Concierge /security so you feel safe and they are so helpful. Cons: 1. Maintenance is the main downside of living here. They take a very long time to complete requests. I am currently still waiting on request to be fulfilled from 3-4 months ago. When I first moved to Icon request were always filled same day. However, there is some different staff now. 2. The staff has changed every single year that I’ve been here with the exception of property manager who’s been here about 3 years. The staff when I first moved here was AMAZING! They were the reason I moved in. They were really helpful & on top of things. They held events allllll the time, the was so much community engagement & they would put gift bags on our doors all the time. It really felt worth all the money it cost to live here. The current staff is very very sweet however they are pretty new and learning. 3. The elevators are down sometimes which can cause an inconvenience for some. It doesn’t bother me, however, it is something to plan around. 4. There are a lot of pets here. More pets than children. If you don’t like pets then this isn’t the community for you. I love the pets but they sometimes have accidents & pee at entrance so it can spell like urine but icon does it’s best to keep the building clean everyday!! 5. Parking is across the street in a garage or you can park on street. It’s not the most convenient especially in the winter but it wasn’t a deal breaker for me."

"I have been living at ICON Apartments for about 5 months now, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. This place truly feels like home. The apartment itself is modern and stylish, with all the amenities I could ask for. The kitchen is bomb! The amenities at ICON Apartments are top-notch. The fitness center is well-maintained and includes a wide-variety of equípment which is why I cancelled my outside gym membership. The location of ICON Apartments is also fantastic. The proximity to downtown Norfolk is a huge plus for me. I love being in walking to all the dining options and entertainment on a Saturday. You will thank yourself for choosing to stay here anytime there is a festival of some sort because its right outside. Overall, I highly recommend ICON Apartments to anyone looking for a comfortable and luxurious living experience in Norfolk. The beautiful apartments, top-notch amenities, and excellent management team make it a truly exceptional place to call home."

"This place is a dream come true. I have lived here for the past 3 months and it has been such an incredible experience. Everyone is so nice and kind. The staff is wonderful. The staff always smile and is always willing to go out of their way to help. It a very beautiful place and I couldn’t pick any other place to live in Norfolk. If you are looking for safe home this is place for you. Did I mention they have security at night at the front door ready to welcome you home. Thank you Icon family!!!"
