Norfolk Waterside Marriott

"This hotel does not meet the standard of the Marriott brand. I do not have the mental bandwidth or time in my day to provide true feedback base on my hellacious experience. I ended my stay several days early and departed to another Marriott to receive the service and amenities I was initially expecting and have been so much more at peace. I will NOT be returning to this location and do NOT recommend despite their location."

"My husband and I visited this property last weekend and it was magical. It was a much needed getaway and we were WOWED the minute we stepped on the property. I usually complain about having to do valet but Andrew was AMAZING. He was very kind, patient and personable. He had great suggestions and set the tone for our weekend. We checked in and the service was amazing. Our room facing the Elizabeth River was very romantic. We will be back very soon!"

"My family and i were in town for a wedding and we decided to stay at the Waterside Marriott hotel in Norfolk Virginia. I have been a Marriott member for several years and have always had good accommodations at their hotels. This trip was the first one that i had with repeat issues and unsolved problems. The first night we got in late so we just went to bed. The next morning we went to take showers and my daughter yells out the drains are clogged and the water is starting to make a mess everywhere. Cleaned up what i could and called the front desk and they didn't answer, called 2 more times and still nothing. I finally got a hold of front desk and told them the situation and they said they would send someone right up. The guy comes up and fixes the drain and leaves. At this point I am like i get it things happen not a big deal. Then my other daughter goes to take a shower and she yells out the water wont get warm. Then in a few more minutes it was actually cold. At this point we needed to get going with are day so my wife and i just decided to take our showers later. We come back a few hours later and the water is still cool. So again, had to chase the front desk around again and finally get a hold of someone and they already know about the issue and its affecting multiple areas of the hotel and their working on it. So this was like this the rest of the time we were at the hotel. Are next big issue was the night before we leave, at 5am, the fire alarm goes off and we are on the 15th floor and have to get the kids up out of bed and get them down flights of stairs. Find out that there is no emergency and the hotel still don't know how to turn the alarm off or what caused it to go off either. So we head back to the room and at this point we just packed the rest of are items up and left. Had to leave in a couple hours anyway and there was no way kids were going back to sleep after that drama. Overall the hotel and staff were terrible. Would not recommend to anyone. I tried reaching out to Marriott about speaking to manager and resolving the issues but didn't get anywhere with that. Marriott does not care about their accountability or the satisfaction of the customer."

"We usually stay at the Hilton, but this Marriott has put in major renovation efforts into their rooms and it shows. I was able to get a room here for almost half what Hilton wanted, and it was just as good. Sure, the lobby and elevators are older and show some wear, but for the price this is a far better choice. Hotel is still beautiful despite the building's age. Service was great as well. Had our room upgraded without even asking."
