Sleep Inn Lake Wright - Norfolk Airport

"Me and my family stayed in this hotel from November 30th to December 2nd while visiting another family member. I must admit I was not the one who paid for the room me and my family stayed in, but given the things we saw and dealt with during our stay, I felt it was important to write a review to notify others who are looking for a hotel in the Norfolk, VA area. Upon arriving (which was very late in the evening), our room smelled strongly of smoke. And not just one area—every aspect of the room. The couch/ lounge area, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom all smelled so strongly of cigarettes it was borderline nauseating. In addition to this, there were several unclean areas. Many hairs were stuck to the walls of the bathroom and shower. There was also a lot of grime and possibly mold built up on the bathroom vent as well. The hair dryer was also broken and had hair and dust stuck in the back of it. However, because we were all exhausted from our long drive to the hotel and weren't going to be staying for that long, we thought it would be best to let it go. That decision quickly changed when we discovered a sign by the mirror stating a $250 cleaning fee would automatically be deducted if smoking occurred in the room. Not wanting to be wrongfully subjected to this charge, we quickly notified the front desk about the smoke smell. The front desk staff was very concerned and said they would make sure to get us another room prepared. Since we were getting ready to go out to visit family, we asked if it would be okay to switch rooms when we got back later. The front desk confirmed that this would be okay. Therefore, when we returned that evening, we got our new room key, moved our things to the new room, and brought the room key for the previous room back to the front desk. The 2nd room was thankfully free of any smoke smell and also seemed to be a little cleaner than the first. As we were winding down on our 2nd and final night at the hotel thought, noticed a cockroach crawling along the wall! Thankfully, one of my family members killed it for me (I'm terrified of roaches) and I never saw another the rest of my stay at this hotel. But you know what they said about cockroaches: where there's one, there's hundreds. Overall, the rooms were far from perfect, but the staff were very nice and quick to help us when we reported an issue. I have included several photos about the details I have mentioned."

"Rooms are questionable. The last time i stayed here there was s TON of crumbs on the floor by the headboard of the bed. I'm talking like orets, doritos, noodles, just gross! This hotel needs updates. Overall the staff were nice. It seems like a lot for them to handle."

"Helpful and friendly check in staff, a nice, clean, air conditioned room with a clean bathroom/shower! The beds are comfortable, clean and well made. We were just down the hall from an ice and vending machine, which made late night snacks fun and easy. We will absolutely stay again on our next trip here."

"When we first checked in the room they gave us was horrible room. It smelled like it had been under water the room was very damp. Dead bugs on the window seals dirty sheets just horrible. So we went and got our room changed. The next room at least smelled better but the tub had a big crack in it felt like you would fall through the floor. Found bugs in the bed and on top of that roaches in the room. The service was horrible too. Asked for towels and wash rags because of course the room didn’t have any a couple hours go by no towels so we go back down to ask and the guy is outside smoking just living his best life. Then the hotel had the nerve to double book me. It was the worst experience we have had with a hotel and we travel a lot."

"The rooms are cool but don’t get a room in the third floor!!! It’s infested with roaches!! And has the loud guest and the smoking guest on it!! Even though it’s a none smoking hotel. But on my second day I got a new room so it was great from there. Front desk was great when they were there. But overall it was ok. Breakfast was good too and the pool was warm? Guess due to it being and outside inside pool."
