"Looked like an amazing place to live from pictures, tour, and leasing office staff. The good: The apartments are located in a great spot with good bars and food in walking distance The bad: Apartments were terribly maintained. Broken AC took months to fix, shower tiles fell off the wall and were never fixed (with months of sending maintenance request), outlets were going out, switches sometimes work, light bulbs burned out and no one ever came to fix these, garbage disposal leaked. Had to do most the work ourself. Hallways and entry ways always had buckets collecting leaking water. Gym was closed for months for maintenance with no one ever working on it. Dumbbells were taken out of the gyms and never replaced. After move out we cleaned, patched holes, did everything stated on “checkout form”. Got the final walk through that showed everything was to their standard. They kept security deposit and are trying to charge $40 extra on top of that. Called them and they told me the $595 I should’ve gotten back was for water and other “things”. Stated they’d have another manager call and have yet to hear back… would 100% not recommend these apartments. For the price you can find something way better that takes care of their tenets. Watch the viral Tik tok video if you are still considering."
"TLDR; Pros: Walking distance to Church Hill, view of the canal/river Cons: Completely falling apart, nonexistent responses to maintenance requests, so much theft When we moved in about 18 months ago, we were enamored with the view and the walking distance to everything we like to do in the city. What's not to love about a cool industrial historic building? Our experience doesn't differ from the other 1-star reviews. Catalytic converter stolen from our car while it sat in the paid parking garage. We're on the top floor and deal with constant water leaks from the poorly maintained flat roof. I've had service tickets in for the most recent leaks since the 1st of December. A month and a half later (along with a dozen emails and several trips to the management office to request someone to check on the status of the requests) and we haven't heard a peep from maintenance. Meanwhile, we're running out of dry towels to handle the three active leaks. Our water heater drain broke and flooded our closet. It took several days to get maintenance out to look at it (despite it actively flooding the apartment below us) and - despite several promises that someone would come out to vacuum up the flooded closet once the issue was resolved - we weren't contacted for over a week by which it had dried up on its own (leaving a stain and a nice mildewy smell in the closet; can't wait for them to try and charge us for that water damage when we move out). I don't blame maintenance staff for this; they have always been courteous and effective once they are on the scene. However, there only seems to be about 3 guys to handle all the service requests for 5 different buildings, and I find it unconscionable that Brookfield can see the level of disrepair for YEARS and not invest in more support staff. It's no wonder people are stealing everything that's not nailed down from the common areas (RIP to the nice set of dumbells in the Cameron gym). If the property owner has such disdain for residents, why should they have any respect for the building? I can't say if any of the other "luxury" apartments in the area are any better, but don't fall for the trap here. Brookfield would need to make a significant investment to overhaul their maintenance system, invest in security in their parking lots, and make real quality of life improvements to these apartments, but based on the half a dozen "inspections" in the last couple months it seems like they're getting ready to offload it to another company to mismanage instead."
"Terrible experience. The day we moved in, there was a massive water leak situation. We had emergency maintenance come on site and say they'd fix it. They managed to stop the water but then it became a huge mold issue. Based on how developed the mold was, I don't think this was the first leak. We eventually moved out early - after ages of asking them to inspect and fix the mold issue. They never did fix the situation. Pics included."
"DO NOT MOVE HERE. I moved out months ago but I am just getting to this review. I was disgusted from the day I moved in. Every time I would come home from work I would have to tell myself that I only had a few months left in my lease. I couldn’t wait to move out. This place is up there in the worse places I’ve ever lived. Their HVAC systems leak so toward the end of my lease my entire apartment smelled of mildew. You can tell they are not maintaining the building appropriately. My entire floor swelled and I had to squeeze in and out of my front door. FIRE HAZARD. Yet when I would call the rental office no return call, I went in person they couldn’t care less. The building was inspected and they had someone out the very next day despite me complaint for weeks. The amenities listed on the website are trash. The machines in the gym were broken my entire lease and it smelled like mildew in the gym. I wouldn’t dare swim in any of the pools. The carpets in the hallways are filthy, it’s dimly lit, it’s like a sketchy motel. The apartment about 3 doors down from me caught fire about 5 times in the first 90 days of me living in my unit. The elevator never works, the lobby ceiling leaks, packages can only be delivered to the rental office which is a block or more away from your actual building. Additionally, the people in the community allow their dogs to pee and poop all over the sidewalks, hallways, elevators. The smell when you walk out is unbearable, unsanitary, unhealthy. There is significant noise pollution from the train as well. I would not even recommend this place to my enemy."
"Lived here for two whole years and hated every second of it. There was never a time that something wasn't broken in our apartment. Whether it was mold, our garage collapsing and falling apart, water building up in the drainless water heater pan, the flooring coming up, the railing disintegrating, the gas leaking in the fireplace non stop, there being 0 working smoke alarms upon move in, the front door not working, the back door not locking, the drains not draining, etc. We would have to yell and beg the office to fix major things. I had to make a huge fuss and nearly yell at the office to get them to fix our front door, which wouldn't open without 200+ lbs of force, meaning I would have to stay home all day and miss work for months upon months so our family could get inside. Service requests would be deleted after a few days and never fixed, gas lit into thinking issues were our fault, etc. My car was damaged several times when the garage was collapsing and never paid or admitted it. (This includes maintenance breaking glass inside of our garage and never admitting it.) I'm surprised this place still exists let alone is allowed to rent out. By the way, did I mention the bugs? Bugs. Constant. Holes in nearly every door frame and window left space for all sorts of pests. Spiders, mice, rats, flies, etc. Hundreds of dollars worth of stuff ruined by rats. And the best part? Despite having a front and back door, you can't get packages delivered to your house. They go to the office, which is open at the most obscure hours and closes for funsies at random times and dates. Good luck getting perishables delivered either, they'll lock the doors 30 minutes before closing despite being open for barely five hours in the day (which, by the way, is when everyone is usually at work.)"
