"I have mixed reviews. The hotel is ok. That being said we could have enjoyed our stay much better. We picked this hotel based on price, location and the fact it has an indoor pool. We were visiting the area because it is where our son lives with his family. The plan was to give the grandkids a chance to swim. When we got there the pool was open and looked like it was going to work out. Spent the first night the AC didn't work and we almost cooked in the middle of the night. When we asked about it the next morning they happily moved us to another similar room on a different floor. Ok back to a spacious comfy room. There were blood stains on the wall in the bathroom and the light was flickering .Frankly it was gross but the AC worked . We were asked if the room was alright and we explained that the bathroom light was flickering and the concern about the blood stains. I explained that I saw a maintenance man and talked to him about the light and that he replaced the bulb. Nothing was done about the blood stains but I am not too surprised because it was wall paper. We visited that evening with our family and came back to the hotel to swim. The whole family changed in our room and walked to the pool it was dark and locked. When we inquired about it. The girl at the desk said it should be open until 10 pm. She said she didn't know if there was a problem but she also didn't even try to investigate the situation. The next day we called first and the person at the desk said it was locked and had no knowledge as to why. We didn't even bother coming back until after 9 pm and the pool was open. Frankly I don't get it. We did care so much but our 8 and 4 year old grands were to say the least disappointed. We were wanting quality time together. I don't care about the pool as much as to no explanation as to why. When we checked out I inquired about the pool and the man at the front desk said he had no idea that there had been a problem over the weekend with the pool. So if asked would we stay there again. I would say maybe... I really just don't understand why the staff had no communication about the pool. It is frankly a safety concern. The staff at the front desk needs to know what is going on with the amenities."
"There were so many areas of neglectful housekeeping in our room and service concerns that I am inserting stars as bullet points in this review. Our first impressions weren't good, as our room keys didn't work right from the jump. The 2 times we had to return to the desk for new keys during our one night stay revealed at least 4 other guests who had to come back for multiple new keys. The clerk seemed oblivious to all of our strife with this and was completely unapologetic. *Then we couldn't find our room due to a literal lack of signage, and she just stared at me and then said, "it's up there" when I said we couldn't find our room; the numbers didn't go that high. Another guest just happened to be in the lobby right then, and explained to us we had to go thru 2 unmarked doors to find the rest of the rooms on that floor!!! * We found dirty, dusty corners in the bathroom; behind the door was even a stray pill. *The bench in the room had a balled up sock behind it, * there were literally no towel racks in the bathroom and * the toilet was so low we had problems getting off of it. *The sink design is asinine; there is no room for your hands underneath the water stream in the confines of the sink bowl, so the water goes all over the counter behind the sink when you wash your hands. *The lamp on the desk had a shade on it that wouldn't have even passed a thrift store's criteria: it had a torn, dirty shade with the bottom metal ring (that holds the shade together) completely rust encrusted and exposed because of it. * there were 5 different areas of wallpaper that were peeling off. This really was a shame for a Choice brand hotel located in a business park, especially for the money."
"Needs some updating. Toilet kept running even after the maintenance man came to fix. The front desk people were very nice. Small hotel but decent and clean. Apparently someone at the free breakfast had an issue with my kids getting more than 1 Nutella but other than that breakfast was breakfast. The pool area was kinda cold and the pool water was colder. Kids still played as long as they could stand it. Overall grands had a decent hotel stay for their birthday. No problem getting clean towels or trash bags from staff."
"This was one of the worst hotel stays I’ve had. I checked in, was assigned a room, and went upstairs to find someone sleeping in the bed (I was given a room that was already reserved/occupied). I then got another room which was filthy (bed not made, food containers everywhere, towels thrown all around the room). Finally got a third room….. elevator wouldn’t work for 15 minutes…. Stood around holding the button. Got upstairs and third times the charm! No one was in the room and it was clean. Went to shower and didn’t have hot water. This was an awful stay and I will not be returning. The only plus side was the price…"
"This is a really nice hotel, for mid-priced lodging. Firstly all but one staff member were very nice, helpful, polite, respectful and knowledgeable. Secondly, the rooms and common areas are clean and well maintained for the most part. I was disappointed that the guest laundry facilities were not working. We were there several weeks and the added cost of traveling to and from the laundry mat was a bit of a budgetary surprise. I did not use the pool but heard no complaints. This is a very nice place to stay in the West End/Glen Allen area."
