"This is a never again situation for me and to know that this is a Hilton facility is even more disturbing. The hallways smelled like mold. There was mold around the tub as well as dirty towels in the room. The phone didn’t work and there water does not get hot. This facility needs a major upgrade! Front lobby worker wasn’t so welcoming! I never write reviews but this here had to be said and done. The only plus to this hotel is the location. Other than that I’m done with Hilton. And I’ve decided to contact the health department for further review. I reserved 2 rooms that night and instead of someone getting back to me via phone they emailed and said this: First and foremost, we want to apologize for the poor experience during your recent stay at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Chesapeake-Greenbrier. We contacted the property to request a refund on your behalf due to multiple amenities not working - the phone and heater not working and the room is untidy. However, despite our efforts, the hotel did not approve our request. The hotel front desk representative named Lisha informed us that they only received your complaint one and a half hours after you checked out without visiting the front desk to provide formal complaints during your stay. She said that they could have provided an alternative room as a resolution. Furthermore, the hotel provided you with Hilton points already as compensation. First off there wasn’t anyone at that desk when I came back into the hotel at 12a. I expressed my concern earlier but was told the hotel sold out that night and no more rooms were available."
"Numerous occasions there was the smell of Marijuana coming from my bathroom. I called the front desk and told them it had to come from above or below our room. Nothing was clearly done. The following morning, the smell had woken my family up because it was do strong. I had my 13 month daughter in the room as well. The paint was peeling on the bathroom ceiling and the bathtub was rusty and chipped. The pull-out sofa, where my oldest daughters slept, had filthy sheets on them. I had to acquire clean sheets for them as well as mattress topper due to the springs coming through the mattress. There was another guest's hair all over the bathroom, so I knew it had not been cleaned properly. I had requested a late check out the morning of departure with the overnight front desk clerk. She agreed to a 1230 check-out. This was not communicated to the day shift. At 1107, housekeeping rudely banged on my door and asked if I was checking out or not. I told her I was given a late check out. She rolled her eyes, mumbled something, and walked away. Within 5 min, the front desk clerk called the room to inquire about the check-out. I was not in VA for a pleasure visit. My family and I came to VA to send my husband off for a military deployment. This stay should have been very easygoing and not stressful, as we were already dealing with a stressful situation. I have never experienced this level of uncleanliness, rudeness, or carelessness from any of the Hilton family hotels. I am very unhappy with my stay and will not return nor recommend this hotel to anyone."
"After an apartment fire displaced us, we were were put up temporarily at Homewood Suites in Chesapeake. Our first contact was Stephanie, the evening associate at the front desk. We were treated very professionally by Stephanie, she was kind and empathetic, and assisted us quickly to allow us to get settled in. She had answers to all our questions and put us at ease. Our room is very nice; everything clean and appropriately stocked. Had an initial problem with the toilet running, and when we notified Stephanie she was able to get Kam up to the room almost immediately. Kam was very quick and efficient in doing his work and very pleasant to deal with. In the three days we've been here, all associates have treated us wonderfully, and a number of them have gone out of their way to assist us. We rate our stay so far as a 5 star all around experience."
"The hotel was very outdated. The beds were hard and uncomfortable. When we asked for more shampoo and conditioner since we had 4 females with long thick hair they didn’t want to give us more than 1 extra. Housekeeping didn’t come in at all. The only good thing was the breakfast there were a lot of options and the food was actually good. Oh and the kids really enjoyed the pool."
"This place is terribly dated. Probably the worse Hilton property I’ve stayed at in a long, long time. The girl at the desk was very nice and welcoming so the staff is probably the best feature of this place. Our room was musty smelling and the sink was clogged. The ice maker didn’t work and the shower had the plug taken out and sitting on the side. Also clogged. The light in the shower flickered and hummed annoyingly loud. There was also very visible mold in the shower and peeling/damaged paint. One of the lamps at the vanity had a bulb out. Breakfast was awful. The eggs were cooked like small round discs and the biscuits were not good. There was no milk left when we went down at 8:30 and none was refilled. Everything was just very lackluster. We were only here for one night visiting family in the area so I didn’t bother to try and get any of the issues addressed. Wasn’t worth the time. The furniture was old and falling apart too. This place needs a major update. We stayed in a 2 queen suite and the beds were NOT queens. They were also very uncomfortable. They were full sized so keep that in mind. At $250 it felt like a complete ripoff. Don’t recommend it."
