Contempo NOVA Apartments 5760 Dow Avenue, Alexandria, VA 22304

"Contempo NOVA masquerades as a high-end apartment complex in rent prices only. With a few shiny amenities, the actual apartment building is poorly constructed, and extremely mismanaged. Crack pipes found in stairwells, Vehicles broken into and stolen from the residential garage, homeless people living in vans next to the building, and the constant smell of weed. Garage doors and elevators are constantly breaking down and sometimes not fixed for several months at a time. Communication with management is extremely poor as they take days to respond to an issue if not at all. The only positive about Contempo NOVA is the maintenance workers who are very responsive and helpful in solving the many issues that I've encountered with my unit."

"This place was great when we first moved in 2020. When the name was Modera Tempo and managed by another company. As the years went on and this property was bought by Sage Ventures everything has gone down hill. We will be moving out next year and I would not recommend that anyone move here! They tell you it’s luxury but it is far from that! There are three buildings and the one I live in is not secure at all. The management company is only concerned with the people that patronize the retail shops leaving our building unsecured. Our front door is left open so that persons who don’t live here can use our elevator! Packages are stolen constantly and the leasing staff tell us they can do nothing about it! I even filed a police report but decided not to prosecute because of the hassle it would be! The parking garage is also not secure as the gate that separates resident parking and retail parking is always open! Anyone can walk in from off the street and steal or vandalize your car… and this has happened in the past! The management company literally does not care because they continue to leave our building unsecured! The customer service you would expect from a luxury apartment is not there. Imagine the fire alarm goes off in this building, you come downstairs with your family, the fire department comes clears the building and leaves and the elevators are not turned back on! Leaving elderly people to wait because they can’t climb stairs. You go to the leasing office to report it and you are met with condescension and 0% customer service. No ETA on when the elevators will be back up and no reassurance! You are paying $3000+ in rent and are never late! For WHAT!!!! Save your money and move somewhere else!"

"If you are looking for a new place or renewing here make sure to do it with Britni! She’s absolutely wonderful and always on top of things. She helped us upgrade to a two bedroom and was so helpful throughout the whole process and even after moving in. She always responds back to emails and phone calls in such a nice demeanor and in a timely manner. I feel so bad for bombarding her with questions and requests but she always responds back in a professional and patient way. If I ever have a maintenance request or any questions I know she’s my go to person and I’m at ease knowing things will get done. The place is already a nice place to live in but it’s even better with great management. So thank you britni, you make our stay here wonderful!"

"PLEASE READ and I hope this review will assist anyone deciding to come here for a future home and avoid dealing with the same issues as me and my roommate. We moved into a 2-bedroom at Contempo Nova exactly a week ago today. Since then I’ve dealt with nothing but horror. This past Monday my roommate sent me a video of ANTS coming from our patio into the home and crawling into every unpacked box and base board in the living room/kitchen area. I had to leave my job early to deal with the issues since we called the office and hadn’t received an update for over 2-3 hours. Once I made it to the office I was informed by the leasing admin that maintenance went upstairs to spray the home. I also asked if/when pest control would be there and I was told they only come out every Wednesday. They also told me the trash can we put outside AFTER making to complaint was the reason for the infestation of ants and it was not. When I went to the apartment I realized about 50 dead ants had been left on our floor for us to clean up on our own, which was absolutely DISGUSTING. Two days later my roommate went to the garage at 5am to go to work and she noticed both of our cars had been towed. When we moved in we were not given any notice as to what was considered “visitors” parking, as you can see in the pictures below there is no indication of visitor parking only AT ALL. The sign says “retail parking” and we were NEVER informed parking there could potentially lead to our cars being towed. We were simply told to “park in the blue areas & any spot that does not say reserved”, with little to no context on what elevators to use to even get to our home, which we also had to figure out on our own. We had to pay almost $400 to get our cars out of the tow lot and waited almost two hours to receive our cars. I highly do not recommend moving here, they give nothing but headaches and stress. This morning makes it a week at this neighborhood and I want to be out of this apartment immediately. I thought this move would be great and it was everything but great."
