"I booked a three-night stay with the BreakWater Inn on November 20th, 2023 for a trip in July 2024. On January 20th, 2024, two months after I received confirmation from the hotel for my booking, I received an email that my reservation was canceled due to a "computer glitch." When I emailed to rebook the reservation the hotel charged me triple the rate I paid on the original reservation. I have kindly tried to reach out on several occasions (phone calls and emails) to resolve the issue, but have been ignored. I have not seen such blatant bad business practices in a very long time. I am so unhappy with this establishment!"
"We were very disappointed in this hotel. The pictures on line are very misleading. They never showed the building we stayed in, just the newer one and not connected to the Inn where we stayed. The room itself wasn't very clean. The carpet had very large stains. I had to get my hand towels and facecloths from the ladies locker room. The sheets on the bed were old and yellowing. The biggest complaint was the filthy, very filthy, furnace filter. I found this by mistake. I thought it was a pull down shelf and whenever I saw it, I could not believe it. I'm actually glad we didn't use the very loud AC because the air would need to go thru it. I do believe it would have been a health hazard for us. I wish we paid the extra 100.00 and stayed in a clean, healthy Inn."
"Very dated and the bathroom had sticky floors and tiles missing. Beautiful views though and when I sent an email the manager told me we could have a complimentary cottage in the future. Very nice offer."
"Simply put, this property is filthy and dilapidated. I’m struggling to understand 1) how this is considered a 4 star inn, 2) how anyone could rate this higher than 1 star, and 3) how they can justify charging $350+/night even during peak season. I won’t go into details about the rest of the property, but it needs a complete overhaul because it has potential. Will keep this brief, factual and specific to our room…. - Our room (#7) wasn’t ready by check-in, but worst of all, it wasn’t properly cleaned. 1 of the pillow cases had black stains on it, so either the sheets weren’t washed or they didn’t think to throw out bedding with permanent stains on it. Speaking of stains, the carpeting and couches were also notably stained. - Our bathroom was a nightmare. The toilet leaked water every time it was flushed. The bathtub drain was so clogged that within the span of a 2 min shower, you were standing water 3” deep. - Several windows need to be replaced- window pane seals were broken (condensation/moisture build up between the panes). On a positive note, the staff was lovely."
