"My wife and I had a wonderful time at the Hawks Nest Lodge recently. The staff was amazing and attentive and friendly throughout our entire stay. We had several excellent meals at the restaurant as well. I was fortunate enough to meet the new owners, Ben and Holly, who clearly love what they do and it shows in the quality of their business. I will definitely be making Hawk's Nest Lodge a place I frequent."
"Had a wonderful experience staying at the Hawk’s Nest Lodge last weekend! Check in was a breeze and the room was very clean and comfortable. We ate at the restaurant and had great meals. The service was excellent with super friendly servers and bartenders. We even met the new owners, Ben and Holly who were so kind and genuinely interested in getting to know their customers. It was such a fun and welcoming environment that you almost felt at home amongst strangers! We couldn’t say better things about this place and can’t wait to go back! Would recommend to anyone looking for a weekend getaway!"
"We arrived at noon and the place was on a shut down mode. There was no one and nothing was open. After calling them they said check in time in at 3 pm and no one will be there to help us until then. A delivery guy was sitting there and waiting and said it happens all the time. They are never there. They left me a voicemail to come around 2. We entered with the code given and the room was still locked and no keys in closet where they said. After harassment if half an hour more they sent us to another room. It was dirty with hornets. After another half hour of harassment they sent us a “manager” to come to open the room we were supposed to be in. This took a long two hours of moving things back and forth after five hours of driving from Boston we were tired. We have to pave for moose tour which apparently is run by them. They had said it is an hour from lodge. Just so we are all clear it is 1 hr 20 mts and NO MOOSE. this tour is run by them. Worst ever and I will post another review about that. You are in the water for less than 30 mts and driving the rest of the time. This room was pretty but not cheap. NO COFFEE MACHINE. really??? And of course I called them. NO ANSWER. SAVE YOURSELF. DO NOT STAY THERE."
"We did not stay at the lodge, so I can not review their rooms, but we've eaten there twice now and left both times disappointed. Apparently, they are under new ownership, and maybe things will get better there, but 60% of our meals we're borderline inedible. As we first arrived, we sat quickly at a nice table overlooking the river. It's a really great location. We waited maybe 10 minutes for our server to come over and take our drink order. The kids got shakes (which they loved, the adults got 2 beers, 2 wine...) shakes arrived in about 10 minutes, our apps arrived maybe 5 minutes later, 10 minutes after that, the wine arrived, we were at this time told they had to change out the keg for the beer... after waiting for 25 minutes! Maybe 5 minutes after that, the beers arrived. At this point, we were wondering why everything was going so slow and my wife happened to go inside to use the restroom and saw all the staff sitting down to a meal... while we waited for our food/drinks and honestly any service you would expect from a restaurant. Onto the food... For apps we had cheese curds and queso, the curds were good and what you'd expect. The queso description said it was spicy and to watch out, but what we were served was basically a flavorless cheese paste that looked more like warm hummus. Entrées Cuban sandwiches were delicious, what you'd expect, but the sweet potato chips were wood fired? Completely burnt and covered in so much garlic powder and flour you honestly couldn't even eat them. We also got 3 flat bread pizza's. Each one was completely black on the bottom and just tasted burnt. The Reuben pizza was gross and had way too much sauce. We would have said something to the server, but we never saw them or the hostess again, no refills, no asking how the food is, we ultimately walked inside to ask for the check, paid, and left without anyone ever coming out to say thanks /goodbye/ come again. I feel the service was worse than the food and thats saying a lot. Maybe they just had a bad day, maybe they hate their jobs, I don't know, but I'm not sure its worth the drive to find out."
