"This was my fourth year at Family and Friends. In previous years it was great and I loved it, however, this year it went downhill. New owners and they hired a manager and her father to take care of the campground. They did not know what they were doing. The pool was closed several times, due to the fact, they could not get the water up to standard, the hot tub was never opened, dogs were allowed to go unleashed, quiet time was not observed and the most disturbing fact was the water. At times there was no water, at other times extremely low water pressure, when asked about it they would not give a reason as to why. It was so full of iron that it discolored my new toilet and sink, and then the Health Department issued a boil water order as it was not fit to drink. The security exit gate was broken so anyone could enter at anytime, which they did on a regular basis. I am not against marijuana, but there were days that was all you could smell, not a good environment for children. I would not recommend Family & Friends to anyone it was a big disappointment this year and extremely expensive. A lot of the reviews posted are from last year and the previous owner who sold the campground. Needless to say, I will find another campground next year. Sandra M"
"Had set up our stay with a camper on one site. They called and asked if we would consider changing sites because someone wanted to extend their stay on that site. We agreed. Ended up going with a tent instead of a camper. The site would have worked for other campers but not ours had we taken it because of the way the site sloped and we have a rear manual slide. Would’ve been difficult to push our slide in and pull it out. For the tent it worked pretty well We would consider returning as it seems to be one of the closest campgrounds to Portland, but not sure with a camper as the transient sites are also the tent sites and seem to be a bit more difficult to back into."
"Family & Friends campground is a great place for kids! Amenities include: a pool, public shower & restrooms, game room with pool table and ping table, basketball hoop, backyard games such as ring toss and Cornhole, a giant inflatable for the kids to play on, a nice playground with swing set. The staff are friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are kept pretty clean. Only slight downside are the bugs on the pond during the summer (but hey you're camping) and the misleading online info on the small cabins (no bathroom in the cabin). Despite this minor setback, this campground offers activities to do during the 4th of July weekend including family games you can sign up up for like tug-of-war and the old potato sack race. In addition, there are fireworks nearby if you ask and other things to do around the holiday such as tie-dying. Overall, I strongly recommend this camp ground especially if you have kids."
"This week my Memere and I stayed at the campground and had an amazing time! At first I was a little nervous because my grandmother resides in a wheelchair and was concerned about accessibility. Luckily the management staff was very helpful, kind, and welcoming to anything we needed. This trip meant a lot to me because I rarely get time off of work to come up to Maine and I’m just so happy that we chose this campground. Will defiantly be coming back soon, thank you! :)"
