"This is by far the best lodging to book if you want to stay near the Maine coast."
"The hotel has recently changed hands and although change can be a good thing sometimes it just isn't. The new owner is not as personable nor as caring as Judy and Charlie. The room we reserved over a year ago was devoid of antiques and any sort of personality such as artwork. Only the towels were changed on a daily basis. The floor wasn't vacuumed at all. On going construction made for a loud not relaxing visit and well water issues caused for the use of bottled water which we had to go to the dark and mostly unmanned lobby to attain. The bathroom is a handicap persons nightmare! The bed, at a height of 31" floor to mattress, made getting in and out rather a struggle. The grounds are dark and poorly lit. I have been a visitor to the hotel since the 1960's and this is definitely my last visit."
"Been staying here now for 14 years, great nostalgic hotel early 1900's. If that's not your thing you may not like it. Otherwise the proprietors are very friendly and the hotel is great. Turn off electronics, disconnect, set back and relax. UPDATE, Under New Managment. Total revampt and modernization ongoing. In one way good, in another bad. Totaly lost its charm and appeal, for us anyway."
"We have enjoyed a mother daughter trip for the past 5 years. Hotel Pemaquid is a step back in time. The owners have done an amazing job at preserving the rich history. We love upstairs rooms with a shared bath. The price is right and they are cozy and clean. We bring croissants and jam to enjoy tea time on the sun porch each morning. Croquet games on the front lawn in the afternoon and a stones throw to the most beautiful lighthouse in New England. It's the best!"
"Quaint, historic. Located on the coast with the sounds and scents of the ocean. This hotel was built in the 1800s and has small rooms, narrow hallways, even a creak or two on the stairs. You can feel the history as you ponder the years and years of guests before you. Read the website carefully so you know the options, and if you have questions just call - they are very helpful and want to ensure their guests are pleased. I've stayed here and at a pricey nearby B&B - both are lovely, yet provide very different ambiance. As a person born in Maine, this feels most like home. The Point is right across the parking lot, restaurant options nearby."
