"DO NOT STAY HERE! My family and I planned a trip to white water raft the Penobscot River back in August of this year. After driving over 5 hours, we arrived to our ‘cabin’. When we first pulled up, we were surprised to see how trashed the property was. Stuff was EVERYWHERE. We decided to not judge the book by its cover, and went inside. Long story short, the inside was just as horrific as the outside. Towels nailed to the wall, blocking holes to the outside. Bugs and spiders in all corners. It felt creepy crawly to be completely honest. After the long drive, we were taking turns using the restroom...when I heard my husband say, “Hurry up there are fleas in here!” Needless to say, there were definitely fleas jumping on him from the floor and bed area. We left and contacted the owner. After a few days, he replied and said sorry (through text). He said he would refund us the money, BUT NEVER DID. I contacted him several other times, to never get any other responses or Our money Back. Awful customer service, absolutely horrifying cabin, terrible experience!! We ended up getting a room at Katahdin Inn and Suites down the street. Don’t let the outside of that building scare you. It’s super nice and cozy inside!"
"Do not trust this owner. I prepaid for my rooms last December for the marathon. When we arrived, he was having issues with frozen pipes which I get, but after making a show of refunding my money, I never got my money back and he stopped responding. I finally wrote it off as a donation to the needy. Found out this is not the first time he has pulled this on unsuspecting guests for the marathon. Fortunately we were saved by a nearby hotel."
"Cabin was over-booked and we too were re-located to a local motel the first night. The motel had no refrigerator, and we had perishables, anticipating the small refrigerator at the cabin. On our arrival the next day, the owner handed my husband cash to cover the cost of the motel. There are no white, down comforters - rather old, stained (dirty?) thin coverlets. No cookies or muffins. The "bakery" next to the cabins looks to have been a thing of the past. Had to ask for clean towels. Garbage piled up in bathroom and not removed daily. No pet policy, but there were dogs in one of the cabins every day we were there. I suppose I was silly to anticipate more for just $59 a night. Lesson learned."
"It was a cute, small cabin that was really nice to come home to after hiking Katahdin. The owner was great, super helpful and let us know where to go when our car was having issues. The only thing I disliked was that it was hard to ask for towels and soap, which were not provided, as I was getting in really late and leaving really early in the morning. But a great stay nonetheless! Would definitely return :)"
"Great Stay! Wonderful family run business! Very clean cabins, with fresh crisp sheets and comforters, not like hotel blankets/spreads. Very quiet too. Your still in the mountain life, but very comfortable. We had homemade muffins or cookies waiting for us everyday. There is an outdoor grill you can use, along with cooking utensils and a large hotplate in the common room. The common room (is also a cabin) has a large TV, sofa, and table, if you want to stretch out and play games or just eat at a table. We were minutes to town, right next to the small airport (very quiet) where you can skydive or try Moose Tours:) The cabins are minutes from Baxter State Park and only an hour from Bangor. We had a great stay!"
