Sampsons Island Wildlife Sanctuary

Sampsons Island Wildlife Sanctuary is a beautiful park and tourist attraction located in Barnstable, Massachusetts, United States. This sanctuary is part of the undeveloped Sampsons Island/Dead Neck barrier beach system, just off the Cape Cod mainland. It is home to a variety of bird species, including piping plovers, least terns, and common terns, which nest on the island's beaches, tidal flats, and salt marsh. Because of its importance as a bird habitat, Sampsons Island has been designated as an Important Bird Area.

Managed by Mass Audubon Cape Cod and Coastal Waterbird Program, this sanctuary offers limited access to the island's beaches on the Cotuit Bay side during spring and summer. Other beaches on the island are closed to boats and pedestrians to protect the nesting areas of the birds.
