"The rooms are NOT CLEAN. I moved rooms after noticing the bathroom had not been cleaned (dirty towels in the tub, shampoo on the curtain, no soap). Then the second room was only somewhat better - empty shampoo bottles in the tub, empty tissue box. The front desk was very apologetic but sheesh. Not even a discount or bonus points to try to make it right."
"Excellent location for the price. Indoor pool was warm. Yes. They were renovating, but UT didn't bother us in the least."
"Disappointing Hotel Stay Due to Lack of Communication I must say our visit to Wilmington was far from the experience we were hoping for. Unfortunately, the trip was marked by a series of disappointments and miscommunication by the hotel. First and foremost, my husband and I had booked a king room, only to arrive and discover that due to renovations, we were placed in a double Queen room instead. This was not the room we had paid for, and the hotel failed to notify us about this significant change in advance. It was an immediate letdown, as we were looking forward to a more comfortable and spacious accommodation. If we had been informed king rooms were on a first come first served basis, as Marriott Bonvoy members, we would have checked in days before arriving. Had we been informed at the time of booking about the possibility of not receiving the king room we booked, we would have had time to consider a different hotel. The lack of communication didn't end there. We were also unaware that the hot tub at the hotel was out of order. It was only when we went to use it that we discovered it was non-functional, with no signage to the fact. This was a further disappointment as we had been looking forward to relaxing in the hot tub as part of our stay. Overall, the lack of transparency and communication was a major letdown. When guests make reservations, they expect to receive the accommodations and amenities they paid for and were promised. Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of those expectations. I hope that Marriott will improve its communication with guests in the future, especially when it comes to notifying them about significant changes like room accommodations, renovations, and the status of amenities. This would go a long way in preventing such disappointments and ensuring a more positive guest experience. I hope the hotel can learn from this and take steps to prevent similar situations for future guests. A simple email at the time of booking would have prevented our wedding weekend visit to Wilmington from being an utter disappointment."
"The rooms here suck. The staff knows it as well. The customers notice it and still stay here for one reason only...the amazing people that work here! The staff here is amazing..they are simply the most warming and welcoming people you will ever meet. They will greet you with a level of service you did not think was humanly possible anymore. They will explain to you that they know how bad the rooms are but don't worry new ones are coming. They fully comprehend the fact that customer service matters."
"Last night we came in late due to delayed flight. We were greeted by the two very friendly ladies at the desk. One was I believe done with her shift, but she stayed and with a smile, helped us check in. We were hungry and she recommended us a restaurant that was next door that happened to be open late. The room is spacious. The bed was comfortable. It is outdated, but clean. However, there was a musty smell that you could tell the carpet was old. I believe they are still renovating the rooms. They do have fruit infused water in the lobby. Last night was sliced strawberries and this morning it was cucumbers. They offer complimentary cookies (none during our stay). On checkout, not one of the three workers (a man and two women) greeted me as I walked out. Contrast difference from last night in which the two ladies were VERY welcoming. Would I stay here again? Yes, but prefer one of the updated rooms as certain odors can be nauseating."
