"The Regal Inn, New Haven, CT - An Unassuming Treasure My visit to The Regal Inn in New Haven last July revealed a delightful surprise. Tucked away in the Amity neighborhood, this motel offers a charming and unique experience that sets it apart. Prime Location: Located at 1605 Whalley Ave, the Regal Inn enjoys a strategic position in the heart of Amity. Its neighborhood rating is well-deserved, offering guests the perfect spot for sightseeing and enjoying local activities. The motel's proximity to transit and airports makes it a convenient choice for both tourists and business travelers. Effortless Check-in and Comfort: The check-in process, beginning at 2:00 PM, was smooth and welcoming. The staff's friendly demeanor added a personal touch to my experience. My room was a pleasant surprise – it was clean, well-kept, and offered a peaceful retreat from the bustling city. Exceptional Value: One of the most striking features of The Regal Inn is its incredible value. With affordable rates and the flexibility of free cancellation, this motel stands out as a budget-friendly option that doesn’t skimp on quality. The ability to contact the property directly for rates and availability adds an appreciated personal touch. Overall Impression: My stay at The Regal Inn was thoroughly enjoyable. This motel combines simplicity with comfort, creating a welcoming atmosphere that’s often missing in larger, more commercial establishments. It's perfect for travelers seeking a straightforward, comfortable, and affordable place to stay. Recommendation: For those planning to visit New Haven, consider The Regal Inn. It's a great choice if you're looking for a convenient, simple, and charming accommodation. The motel is a shining example of how a modest setting can deliver a satisfying and memorable experience."
"For the price it's not bad. If you need a cheap place to stay you get what you pay for."
"One of the worst motels in the worst part of the city. It's the kind of place where you have to avoid eye contact with other guests to avoid being threatened. The front desk clerk told me they require housekeeping to come at least once a week, but then housekeeping told me it was every 4 days while pestering me after only two days. When my representative from the city government apparently miscommunicated a payment arrangement, the motel staff said I had until 1:30pm to pay. When I went to pay at noon, they told me that they were going to kick me out for not accepting housekeeping service, whereas I had just allowed housekeeping the previous day. They changed their story again and said it's required daily, which is absolutely absurd for any motel. That same day, housekeeping came to change our towel and trash, but refused to change the bedding despite telling them to do it. I have to wonder if the real reason they're treating us like this was because they don't like something they noticed about me and my romantic partners that's legally protected, because the staff's behavior toward us was completely irrational. My room didn't have a phone, "do not disturb" sign, nor even a shade. The walls are gouged up. The shower tiles are cracked. The keycards randomly stop working. The hot water takes 5 to 10 minutes to get up to temperature. The driveway is an extremely narrow bridge not wide enough for vehicles to pass. They apparently never wash the duvets despite constantly pestering me to let them change the bedding. They have German cockroaches and bedbugs here. One of the cabinets didn't have a knob on it. The shower curtain rod was mangled. The ceiling above the window was damaged. Wires dangled hazardously from the ceiling outside my room. The balcony railings are dangerously low. The bathroom was missing a towel rod. The TV had no signal. My WiFi calls kept dropping because of the unstable connection."
"Housekeeping is poor and needs to clean more thoughly, didn't even want to take a shower in nasty tub. I've had a poorly cleaned room more than once and have complained. I was told the parents were cleaning rooms at one time i called to complain. They're old and that's unacceptable,no wonder they couldn't clean the tub at least one of those times. Broken fixtures need to be fixed and replaced, Mattress was dented and felt springs and was very uncomfortable. They make enough money to do better and upgrade, alot of people visit and stay so they make enough money to do better and should. It's not great but less ran down than the other motels and there's gas stations and a couple food spots in that area is the only nice thing I can say."
"It's is my go to place it can be a little bit noisy but it is the clientele. But it could be a better place if it was a good place to crash for a couple of days and they could make it more secure and add real motel services like ice machine and drinks soap and other amenities for the guest room are very nice and comfy and I will have to say I did get my rest on the two occasions I visited the hood is not welcoming but I just stayed inside. The price was a surprise and it was a great value for what they gave us the staff was the typical Indian personality but they were cool as long as you pay your things they offer in the lobby"
