“In Rottingdean to see The Grange's exhibition and decided to pop in to the Open Art Cafe for a cheeky lunch! All cooked to order so there was a little wait, but the food and service were good. Would recommend.”

“This venue is one of the best and most honest seafront cafes in Brighton and hove. Staff are all friendly, helpful and actually seem like they want to be there, a rarity in minimum wage at Brighton cafes… The food itself has greasy spoon vibes but that’s their thing! Everything does what it says on the tin. Pint for less than £6 on the beach? Not too shabby”

“Lovely coffee, and cakes and other goodies to eat. The staff are very friendly. I found it a little expensive, but after 12 weeks of lockdown it was worth it to get an excellent cup of coffee and sit in the sunshine. Please note that it doesn't open on Mondays.”

“I had one of the best experiences in Brighton by walking into this place. Yes, the beer was good, and not outrageously priced, so that was nice, but it was the people I met! They welcomed me in and I felt like family. The Scottish man and the friendly bartender who’s been working there for 7 years, the old man with the epic hat he bought for £30, all made my stay wonderful. “Was staying around the corner in Brighton for the night and had a couple of hours to kill so wandered out looking for somewhere to spend the time with a couple of friends. So glad we found this bar...friendly, unpretentious, lovely knowledgeable staff and cosy as hell. A great find.”

“The kind of place you want to linger in. From the first person who greets you, to the hellos you get and directions from bed section to superstore, this is clearly a special place. Such warm and friendly people, a huge selection of tempting items and particularly, potted plants and mid century furniture to spare. To then find that the Emmaus movement has grown globally from belle Paris is no surprise. What a great concept and good on all the people living and working there. The best customer service I've had in ages and a genuinely great place to be.”

“Friendly and efficient customer service. Food is always delicious and served swiftly. Some of my personal favorites are: the whole chicken with peri peri fries, the chicken strips with sweet potatoes fries or rice and finally the Supreme wrap. They also have a great breakfast menu and fantastic coffee. Went once and became a regular!”

“It’s a comfortable dining experience. Portions were very generous and the food is quite light/ healthy compared to most Indian restaurants. While it might not be the most authentic Indian restaurant, my family and I really enjoyed the thali set, chicken, open naan wrap and the dahi puri.”
