“This was the first time we had visited for lunch. I had a delicious ‘’Yorkshire BLT’, and Zoë had a lovely mushroom omelette. These are both basic yardsticks of a good cafe, and I’m delighted to say that the quality here was well above the standard fare. Truly delicious. Also love the quirky design of the old lodge, really lovely unobtrusive but welcoming staff. Would thoroughly recommend.”

“This is the best coffee shop I visited in York. The best cappuccino I had all trip and in many months was here. They use amazing beans and it’s a very gourmet style for coffee snobs and regular people alike. It is small but they are nice guys. I went here every day of my trip!”

The presentation was perfect, even down to the little pocket that the serviette and wooden knife and fork came in. I can’t recommend this place enough. “I visited this evening with my friend and instantly I was blown away by the classic ambience of the restaurant as we walked in. We were greeted by friendly staff and then seaten very shortly. The waiters and servers were all tremendously knowledgeable and they delivered exceptional service to us throughout the night. We ate from the halal menu, and every steak had a different flavour. Despite the difference in flavour, the quality and taste remained delicious. The drinks and desserts were just as great as the food! I will certainly be back again, but this time with more friends. “Love it in here mainly for the cakes (food is good too) but if i am being honest i am all about the cakes. The standard of baked goods and flavours is better than anywhere else locally or even in Leeds. Highly recommend it (although i might regret it if it becomes too popular) less cake for me!”
