Costco Pharmacy 5201 Intermountain Drive, Salt Lake City, UT 84107

"I am only 56 years old and I have suffered with severe, disabling pain for 20 years. I have bone on bone bilateral sacroiliitis, Facet’s Disease, osteoarthritis of my spine and hips, radiculopathy, severe muscle spasms next to my lumbar vertebrae, scoliosis and a bulging disc at L4. In addition I have severe osteoporosis and have broken 9 bones in my left foot and toes in 4 years. I have been dealing with severe, unremitting pain and disability for 20 years. No on should have to endure the pain I have 24 hours a day. Well yesterday my pain management doctor accidentally sent my 2 Pain prescriptions to Costco in Murray instead of the Downton Costcos where they know my severe history with pain and treat me like a human, not a drug addict. Yesterday I called Costcos Murray pharmacy and it was noisy, unprofessional and the girl sounded annoyed. She ran my prescriptions through and gave me the prices. I usually only take between 2-4 Percocet a day but my radiofrequency ablation for my pain only lasts 9 months and for 3 months I need ONE OxyContin at bedtime so I can sleep without debilitating pain. My insurance doesn’t pay for the OxyContin so it looks like I pharmacy shop when, in fact I only take it once a day for 2-3 months until my radiofrequency ablation can be done once a year with my insurance only paying for it once a year. The ablation only lasts 9-10 months in me so the OxyContin helps me when the ablation wears out sooner than a year. Unfortunately this girl that helped me treated me liked a drug addict. She was rude, short tempered. Just a word of note to this girl and this pharmacy: not everyone who takes opioids are drug addicts and I would take having no pain over opioids EVERY DAY of the year. But I also don’t deserve to live in severe, unremitting pain for the rest of my life!! Despite what most people hear or think, most opioid overdose deaths are coming from illegal fentanyl bought in from South America, Mexico and China and sold illegally on the streets. And since my insurance requires me to try Fentanyl patches and Metadone before they will approve my OxyContin, I have chosen NOT to jump thru their dangerous drug choices. OxyContin is much safer than Fentanyl or Methadone. Stupid insurance company!! Once the girl printed off the labels so she could tell me the cost, I asked her to please fill them yesterday like the directions said. She sounded annoyed, judgmental and unprofessional. She never even said goodbye before she hung up the phone. One word of advice: most chronic pain patients are not the ones buying illegal drugs off the streets and overdosing. Preconceived notions at this pharmacy need to change. I’m not an addict, I’m someone who has severe, unremitting pain 24 hours a day. I dare you to live with my level of pain and disability(with no surgery as an option right now) and do it without opioids. To the girl who helped me, your rudeness and coldness spoke volumes to me! Remember not EVERYONE is a drug addict!!"

"Let me first say how much I love Costco. I have been an executive member for quite a long time. Today I had a procedure at the hospital, and the Dr had called in meds for me before even beginning the procedure. We went to Costco pharmacy when I was done. There were no customers in line whwn we walked up. The gal pulled up my name and stated they were working on it and it would be 15 to 20 min. We walked around the store since there were some other things we needed to buy. We came back after 30 min and it was still not done. The gal was rude and stated, "well, we have been very busy". I ended up having to wait for over 45 min to get my meds by which time the numbness had worn off and I was in a lot of pain. I was horribly disappointed and disgusted with Costco pharmacy staff today, to the extent, I'm not even sure I will use this location for any future medications. Don't tell people a time it will be done at a certain time if you can't deliver. Also, don't be rude to the customer when you are called out on it, just be respectful and apologize for the miscalculation. I wish she had to feel the pain I was going through. Maybe she wouldn't have had such an attitude!!! She should be written up for her behavior."

"This is only the second review I've ever done. That should tell you something. I have been getting the runaround by the staff on a medication. After a few days I called to verify that the scrip had been sent in by my provider. The pharmacist just treated me so completely and utterly rude I couldn't believe it. He acted like I was the biggest idiot on earth. I work in the healthcare industry and would never talk to someone that way. I will be switching pharmacy's immediately!"

"If I could give less than 1 star, I would. I recently moved and had my medications moved to this pharmacy instead of having to go clear across the valley to my old pharmacy. These are medications I have taken for over 7 years, and by not being able to take them like I am supposed to you will have withdrawal issues. Which, now that I’m at a 36 hour point and still have not yet been able to get my medications (& yes I’ve even contacted yes my doctors office, twice..) you’re closed tomorrow being as it’s Sunday. Which now means I’ll be lucky if I am able to get my medications even Monday. So I would sincerely like to thank you for making it so I will spend my weekend in sever pain and in withdrawals. Had I known switching to your pharmacy would have been such a huge deal, I would not have chosen to do so."

"The Costco Pharmacy NEEDS a much better system.The Good is all the Staff are Amazing (this is why they get any Stars). You wait in a long line, to get to the counter to be told that they haven’t started it yet. when it should have been filled days ago. Their Communication is terrible, Call or Text with information. I shouldn’t have to talk to you when my Doctor sends you a script, just fill it. Then you go to the waiting area and wait and wait for them to call your name. They never do, so you have to wait in the Long Long Line, AGAIN. The Store is Great but There always seems to be some sort of issue with Costco Pharmacy."
