1265 Downing Apartments

"I usually don’t leave public reviews but this is the one exception. The list of things wrong with 1265 Downing is too long but please skip this location. The front entrance is constantly damaged or “under repairs”, the lease says AC is included but a breeze of the Sahara Desert would be cooler. Packages keep getting stolen here, and its practically all the carriers including the Postal Service. The list of emails explaining poor management or lack of oversight is long. Those in public housing are cared for better than people paying over $2000/month. Beware, this is not the WFH lifestyle you want! It is completely different from what is advertised. How can one work from home without air, without receiving any packages, and the random homeless that seem to constantly get in the building."

"Broken AC, many many stolen packages from front locked entrance, and my door was installed wrong and broke. Building needs new carpet, paint and patch and general up keep. Great location and parking available though."

"The air conditioning still does not work despite it being late July. I have submitted 5 tickets since May and the thermostat still is in the 80s when the ‘ac is turned on’. If you value communication, respect and staying cool in the summer, this may not be the best place for you."

"A main entrance door that does not lock, running into non-residents in the stairwell, service requests that take many weeks, large rent increases, un-insulated windows that do not keep AC cool air in (larger utility bills), washer/dryers that often do not work but happily accept your money, every package getting stolen (so much so that residents started a petition for cameras and increased security but Redpeak took them down), just to name a few issues. Weigh your options, very expensive to live here for the services offered especially compared to other buildings in the Cap Hill area."

"This apartment used to be reasonably priced, which made up for all of its flaws. Firstly, someone in the building steals EVERY package that is delivered. Red Peak refuses to do anything or install cameras in the building, they could not care less. Second, the washer/dryers in the building DO NOT work. The washer on the 5th floor has been full of dirty water for 3+ months. The dryers don’t dry your clothes and leave disgusting residue all over them. To top it off, red peak controls the A/C so I hope you enjoy April and May with no A/C. The weather all week is hi in the 80s and they will not turn off the heat."
