Barsala at CanyonFlats

"I have taken the time to write this honest review for those future guest looking for legit information regarding a possible stay at Barsala Canyon Flats-Reno, NV and hope that those sincerely interested in saving their money read the entire post. I will be specifying the positive and negatives. I gave a one star review for the following reason(s). The unit was very clean and essentials were stocked up. Check-in was super easy. The parking was horrible. Wasted 1 hour trying to get a spot. Make sure you call beforehand to see if “maybe” they can give you 1 of the MANY vacant spots they have in their parking garage. They may or may not move you units hours before. They did for us. To highlight the main reason on the 1 star. This was a family trip. We had 4 children between the ages of 4-13. First night, people from downstairs were having a party loud music and screams and banging. We didn’t say anything we didn’t want to be those “complainers.” Mind you, they have a 50 decibel intolerance alarm. The fire alarm rang at 5 am (could be 65-120 decibels) we woke up packed as much as we could so we could evict and contacted customer services for directions. Our kids were screaming and crying in fear. Customer service stated they would reach back to us in 10 min. Never did.We looked outside people would peek out and go back in their units. Later realized it was a false alarm. It went on for 30 min. We tried to go back to bed and it went off another 2 times. We contacted customer service and we received zero feedback. We decided to put that to the side and continue with our vacation and assumed it was just a bad temporary situation. The following night the party and loud music, banging and screams continued, the fire alarm rang at 1, 1:30, 2 am again at 5 am multiple times. This time our kids wrapped themselves in blankets and sat in the bathroom while it went off. We had no where to go at 1 am and our vehicles were parked in a Casino parking garage. It is a super long walk to get out of the building and we were on the 5th floor towards the end of the hallway with no functional elevators (due to the alarm)We contacted customer service, and they NOR management EVER reached out to us. They do not care about your well being or safety. If it were a real fire alarm guests would not know. My children went through so much distress and still think they will hear this extremely loud alarm in our home. We checked out hours early and cut our vacation short because our children were tired and scared the alarm would go off again.They need more compassion and understanding. They need representatives and management that care about the safety and comfort of their guests. They NEED to address these false fire alarms to PROTECT their guests in case of a real emergency. There are reviews that it has happened before.I have been asking for a compensation to reward my children with an actual relaxing stay somewhere and they have been of no help. They will lie to you saying they will get back to you but do not."

"The good. Rooms are nice enough. As others have mentioned, the facility caters to the college students. Beds are full size so can be tight with 2 people. Place is clean enough. Our room was quiet. We had some problems getting the key but Barsala staff quickly fixed it. Not as good. Parking can be a challenge. This is not a hotel so if you have a lot of stuff you may need to carry things a long way. Parking gets tougher on the weekends and if there are festivals in town. There is also a bit of maintenance needed. Broken windows and our room had paintings just sitting on floor. I would normally rate a solid 4 stars. So why the one star review. We have been here 2 nights in a 7 night stay. The fire alarms have gone off 5 times since we have been here. All in the middle of the night. It has gotten so bad that people are not even leaving the building."
