"We've been Choice Privileges members for years and have spent thousands over the years with this franchise but the experience we just had with this particular one has likely ended our patronage with Choice Hotels. We are on our way to visit family on the east coast and after driving well into the night, decided it was time to get some sleep so we pulled off at Salem and upon seeing the familiar Comfort Inn sign, whipped into their parking lot and hopped online to see what their rates and availability were. I found an acceptable room, began the booking process and was entering our credit card details when some jerk with a huge flashlight began pacing around our vehicle waving the flashlight in our eyes and for some unknown reason, decided to use it as a strobe, turning it on and off in rapid succession while posturing aggressively and making it quite clear he was irate. Needless to say, i halted my purchase on the spot and left without a glance back. I'm unclear as to what set the security guard off but suspect he isn't quite right in the head. He is most certainly a shoot first, ask questions later individual and I'm simultaneously baffled and horrified by the encounter. I'm thankful someone knew not to trust him with a firearm as being gunned down in the parking lot of the business I was trying to spend money with was not nor ever will be on my list of things to endure. So long Comfort Inn. It was lovely while it lasted. If ever you decide to amend your practices in what does and does not constitute "hospitality " please do let me know."

"Recommend staying here : Yes, unless you need reliable wifi… and be sure to leave nothing of value visible in your vehicle. This two-star hotel is aged and needs many updates but management is keeping it clean and comfortable. There is no fitness center/exercise equipment room but there is a swimming pool."

"No Pool available nor hot tub. carpets seem to need cleaning, TV selection only commercial driven channels. Great customer service. friendly folks. breakfast mediocre at best ... more a continental breakfast with some eggs and sausage."

"The front desk was nice. Food was the same thing for 3 days mediocre. My room was ok,very spacious, the bathroom needed some TLC for sure. Definitely a dated hotel and for a quick trip or sleep over its fine."

"When I arrived in the lobby, the front desk person wasn’t there. (Edit to add: The sign said “be back in 5 minutes”, but I waited a good 20 minutes before the front desk employee showed up. Two men in the lobby were also waiting before I even showed up. They had actually gone out to get a beer and came back because they had gotten tired of waiting around in the lobby.) While I waited a man came downstairs from his room and said he had a bunch of mold in his shower. At that point, I really wished I could have left, but I had a non refundable reservation. The long and short of is that the place is old, musty, and layered with filth. I didn’t find mold in my shower, but I did find bed bugs. I thought they were ticks at first, but after some Internet research, it turns out they were bed bugs. Yay. I brought one down in a cup to the front desk the following morning and she gave me a “I’m sorry about that, I’ll get my cleaning staff on it…” but made zero attempt to offer any sort of compensation or discount. I was on my way to an event and didn’t have the time to sit and argue. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. There are a lot of other hotels in the area and I can’t imagine they are worse than this one."
