"*Do not stay here if you are a light sleeper* I am still giving this place 4 stars because it was clean and they had decent service when I needed to move rooms. However, you can hear every single step the person above you takes. And your mattress may as well be laying in the parking lot for how loud the cars and motorcycles sound when they pass by. There is zero sound proofing of the rooms, doors or windows. See photo for how big of a gap there is even when the door is closed and locked. Since these rooms are less than 20 meters from a major 4 lane road, there needs to be some sound proofing."

"Lovely place and outstanding value - very quaint room that was well appointed and even had a fireplace. The man at the front desk was super kind and helpful. He let us check in late via a key stashed in a lockbox, ensured the Tesla charging parking space was available for us, and offered us coffee in the morning. Will certainly stay again if travel brings me back to that neck of the woods."

"Do not stay there, danger to life! We booked a room there which had a gas leak or potential back-draft issue with the gas burner. The whole room smelled like gas even with windows opened for quite some time. It got even worse when we closed them. The manager told us there wasn't a problem and we should just sleep there anyway. He did admit though that there had been similar complaints before and even firefighters at the hotel some weeks earlier. We didn't want to risk carbon monoxide poisoning or even an explosion and decided to find another hotel. The manager did not want to give us a refund and after lots of arguing agreed on 25% which he later on even declined. For your and any family members safety do not book this hotel. It's just a question of time until we will hear a tragic accident in the news about Villa Franca Inn in Monterey Bay. And don't believe any lies the manager will write in response to this review. He only cares about money and will say anything in response to this, but please don't risk your life for a night in this hotel when there are plenty of other options nearby."
