Hilton Garden Inn Monterey

"All in all, not a bad stay. The lobby and room looks like they were updated recently as the colors and style is tastefully contemporary. My room was comfortable and came with a real balcony, a rarity these days. The rooms are not wall to wall carpeted which is great because no one likes that grungy stuff. I could hear a little foot traffic from the room above in the early evening but the AC was quiet (a big plus in my book.) The outdoor pool and lounging area was nice. Parking is charged daily, and the staff I met were all helpful. There is a small restaurant that prepares full breakfasts, and the gym is a great feature. The hotel is located in an area which is not that pedestrian friendly to local attractions so consult the map for your visiting needs. If you’re here for business, probably not a bad place to be."

"Service was good. My room was right in front of the stairs which was quite noisey with the noise of suitcases hitting the stairs going up and down all hours of the night. The room was outside the usual hallway from the rest of the rooms. The Toilet has a musty moldy smell to it. Shower head was pretty terrible. But overall it was clean and comfortable so I would book again but I think next time I’d ask for a room in a different location."

"Well, the location is great. The door in our room was damaged and never locked well. The coffee maker in both rooms were broken. The bathroom light turned on and off all night.. I could not sleep . It was rough the next day with a 6 hour drive on little sleep. When we reported all this to management.... no response ,just a sort of shrug. I could not even get a cup of coffee at this lousy place.. There is no breakfast at all! As much as we travel I will never stay at a Hilton again. It's one thing to have problems, that's just life. It's what you do about them that sets people apart."

"For my personal experience with the front desk, it is neutral. They don't go above and beyond, but they will answer your questions, pretty basic. They charge for parking, $19 tax included. Simple breakfast $22. Their serving portions are big, in my opinion, so plan accordingly ( if you want to save money). They have other items you can order. The rooms are big and the linen is clean and comfortable. Pillows are comfy. The shower glass doors do not prevent water from seeping out same for bath tub curatins ( so be safe when stepping out). Pool is not as warm as I would prefer , but it's still warm and enjoyable. Noise level is good. It's never been noisy on our stay. I have not tried their bar or restaurant yet."
