"DO NOT BOOK A COOKING CLASS HERE. I booked a class here for my boyfriend for Valentine's Day, then I went a couple days after to their website to take a screenshot of the class to give him as his physical gift, and the class was no longer there. I checked my email and my phone to make sure I didn't miss any messages about it being cancelled, and I hadn't received any. I called the store to ask if the class was cancelled. I didn't get the name of the lady that answered the phone, but she was rude and condescending right off the bat. When she picked up, I explained that I noticed the class was no longer on their site and just wanted to check in to see if it was still happening. She said, "I don't know, check your email. If it were cancelled you'd get a message. You'd also get a phone call." I said, I did check that and I didn't get anything which is why I thought I'd check in with you over the phone. She then laughs and goes "Well, if it's not on the website then it was cancelled, so you obviously missed a message." I ignored this comment and asked if she knew when I would receive a refund. She seemed confused about me asking this and replied, "No? That's customer service's job, not mine. I can give you their number if you want." I said no I already have it I just thought I'd call the store first, thanks, and then hung up. Fortunately, customer service was helpful—they got me my refund back in a few days. I'd recommend calling them right away with any issues and not the store. To top it all off, not only did I not receive notification that the class was cancelled and then get gaslit by a worker that I missed a message, but for 2 weeks after the class was cancelled and I received my refund, I continued to receive emails reminding me when the class was. The day before the class, I finally received a call letting me know that it was cancelled. Don't book here. They told me they don't have a chef to teach their classes, which is why they keep getting cancelled. Not sure why they are still booking them if they don't have a chef, but would not recommend booking here."

"Absolutely unforgivable customer service. My wife and I took a day off work and signed up for a cooking class, two nights before we receive a phone call saying it was cancelled. Okay fine that happens. We pick another day. Show up for a 9:00am class to find the store dark and locked. No call, no email. Call Sur La Table corporate to find out that our class had been canceled again. What an absolute waste of our time. I’ve been a long time customer and fan of Sur La Table and to be treated like this really hurts."

"Nice kitchen gadgets. Last time we were there, an employee went out of his way to tell us that the kitchen tools were all "Buy two, get one free". This seemed like a decent deal, so we gathered a few we'd been looking at, only to have another associate charge us full price, because "that sale had expired". I'm not one to make a stink over a few dollars, but that's scummy sales and I won't be back anytime soon."

"One really needs to be able to give less than 1star on a review. The level of inept service that I have received, on the rare occurrences when someone actually answers the phone, explains why most reviews of this company are less than desirable. I've received two different answers why a $200 gift card that was to be sent express mail has yet to even leave their facility. You have used my money for over a week now. The way I see it, this is theft by a retailer. Also note when I said I was canceling the order, the person said that it was not possible for them to cancel the order. Again, you have taken my money and provided no goods or service. Theft! Jordan Voloshin... you need to manage better. No wonder you are in Chapter 11."

"My sweet hubby and kids went to this beautiful store to purchase me a new kitchen aid mixer for Mother’s Day. The very first time I tried using it a part flew off of it. My son went back to the store to see what they could do. They told him I would need to call kitchenaid. Called kitchenaid and they said they wouldn’t be able to do anything and referred me to another toll free number to try and find a local repair dealer which there is none near me! Called Sur la Table and explained the situation today and asked if they could please do something to help us. The lady at the store said we were passed the 30 day warranty they would do nothing. Please do not buy anything expensive from this store! Nordstrom or Walmart provides better customer service."
