Headwaters Sanctuary

"Saw all the Google reviews about a pretty trail site, and followed the map to the place. I could not find it at all. We drove all around this campus and only found one trail entrance but it wasn't the one in the pictures. There is no public parking in the university and I am not parking a 20 minute walk from the trail itself through a hot university parking lot I don't even attend. We are from Oklahoma and just wanted to go see what nature walks Texas had. We decided to go to Brackenridge Park and the Japanese tea garden instead. I recommend just going there because it had obvious signage and had free parking. I think the trail and parks are meant for the religious people at the college, and not for random people sightseeing. That is the vibe we got from the whole area, and we felt awkward just driving around a campus looking for a trail."

"Ok I finally figured out how to enter these hiking trails. Its near the baseball field. Found Brigids path and Brigids trail. I parked on Broadway and probably took me 20 mins to walk thru campus to the start of the trailhead (brigids path). It was cold and rainy and kinda loud bc the road is right there.....but still pretty, and no one else on the trail head so score. I think I'll try this trail again- now that I know how to find it."

"I saw some really nice paths on the reviews so I was very excited to go for a walk. However, we got there and we could not find a place to park and we did not find the entrance to the Headwaters Sanctuary walk trail. We parked the truck at the University grounds hoping we didn't get a ticket. And still could not find this walk trail. Got back to the truck and drove around the whole campus. We stopped and asked a couple of the students for guidance and they said that there was no parking with in the campus, but she said it was over by the football field, baseball field and tennis courts. We finally found the entrance which it is inside the University of the Incarnate Word, however, we were afraid to park in their campus as there was not a public parking so we left."

"The natural sanctuary includes Blue Hole headwater spring for the San Antonio River and the Great Oak, a three hundred year old historic old growth oak tree. The trails are beautiful, well kept and entirely in the shade. No bicycles allows. Many scenic areas."

"This place offers nothing that the pictures show. The headwater is nothing but an empty well with garbage in it. Blue hole is a waste of time. It's behind a noisy part of the incarnate college. And no one on campus has any idea what the Blue Hole or the Headwaters were or where they are. Brackenridge Park has better images of headwater and Blue Hole."
