"Would never recommend anybody staying here! Didn’t even want to give it one star but I couldn’t leave a review without a rate. Management is poor. People in the office are below the standard of what employee qualifications should be. Maintenance is THE WORST. Not at all professional or accommodating of the mistakes they make or issues that come about due to their poor decision making.. They have ZERO sense of urgency! The after hours maintenance number is a joke. Even calling into the office is a joke. These are apartments are by far the worst in Hoover! They are over priced and designed so cheap. Everything is always wrong and no one comes to fix it for days sometimes weeks at a time. They need to hire an entire new staff. Hate. HATE. H A T E!"
"I am currently living here. My lease ends in may 2024. I am also currently looking into options to get out of my lease. Kaitlyn was amazing, when she worked here. I’ve continued to email her account with no response when it came into regards to my dog. I didn’t started emailing the assistant manager and the owner letting them know that I did not receive an answer from Kaitlyn. They told me that in their records they never saw a place where they didn’t respond yet, I have the emails to prove it. But anyways, to the problems. I’ve been here since April 2023. When we first got here, the apartment has been renovated. It took me about 4 1/2 hours to figure out how the thermostat work since it was still connected to the previous renter/had not been set up correctly. After that, I had issues with the dishwasher not going through a dry cycle. I contacted the office, maintenance came in twice to fix it, it was never fixed. Fast forward, we continue to have issues with bugs and our drains staying clogged. But I swear, this place has the water turned off at least 3 times a week it seems like. Power goes on and off randomly. It’s weird. Fast forward again call mom is the tail end of summer in the beginning of winter, but we all know how that is here. It can be 40° one day and 86° the next. Well, our AC went out and it was very hot day that it went out but then the following two days it was pretty cold. I called multiple times to try and have the AC fixed but I was told it Has to be above 70° outside and it Has to be hotter than 82° in the apartment before I can call the emergency number. Well, Stephen had called me back with an attitude saying “you know it’s like 54° outside, why don’t you just open the door“. My response was something along the lines of I’m tired of opening both of my doors and having insects come in and that it’s supposed to get hot later in the week. He pretty much told me there was nothing they could do and that I was on a “list” out for maintenance to come out when it hit 70°. Well, it was 70° in above for about three days in yet maintenance had not come out. It took me calling them another two times before they actually came out to fix it. The same time I called them. I let them know that my dishwasher is now leaking every time ran it. They told me that once they were done charging the AC, that they would come fix my dishwasher. That never happened. I saw them outside, charging the unit and then they left. Now to the fun part. In the least, this place says they don’t have cameras anywhere, but the front office. This is correct. But, I’ve now had my vehicle broken into four different times. With over $2000 worth of stuff stolen. Our downstairs neighbor nearly had her CAR stolen as well. There’s a stolen vehicle that drive around and breaks in about every 2 weeks. A person in the building next to us out a camera on their balcony to help and the apartment management got mad at them. Told them they couldn’t have it and they had to take it down. A door dasher took out one of our only light poles about 2 weeks ago, still not fixed. The communication here is awful and ridiculous. Like I said, I’m trying to get out. I’ll update what happens. I have a meet with the management today after work."
"Lived at the Gardens for 4 years with no issues. Confirmed that i had a zero balance with the property manager Steven after moving out in May. I received a call from Steven weeks after moving out informing me of a $790.40 property damage fee after their final inspection was completed. Basically, carpet stains and 2 damaged blinds. We agreed to file a claim with the renters insurance company who approved, settled the FULL amount and mailed them a check on June 16th. Steven was supposed to process my $150 deposit refund after receiving the settlement check from the insurance company. It's November, I haven't received the $150 deposit refund. But what I received in the mail was a $640.40 bill from their collections agency. Not only did they receive a FULL check of $790.40 from the renter's insurance company, which they already cashed. They then deducted my $150 deposit from the $790.40 and sent an already settled account with a zero balance to collections. I've been trying to get a hold of Steven from 9am CT today with no success. It's 4:30pm now. 1. Please reach out to your collections agency and right this wrong. 2. Process and mail my $150 deposit to the forwarding address on file. Update. Steven reached back out [great manager by the way]. He never received the check, we'll be reaching out to the insurance company tomorrow so that they could reissue the settlement check. Steven will also reach out to their collections agency to dispute the charge. Thank you."
"I visited Wood Gardens last week with a friend of mine who was looking for an apartment. I was so impressed by how timely, professionally, and friendly we were cared for. The entire staff went out of their way to greet and help us. They found exactly what she was looking for & more. The community was beautiful! When I walked in, I was stunned to see how gorgeous it looked with all of their amazing Christmas decorations - I had to take pictures! I will be coming back to move in myself in a few months!!"
"This is possibly the worst place I have ever stayed and it has been a nightmare for the past year trying to get things repaired. The office management is so unprofessional. After finally being able to make it to the office during office hours after months of emails and trying to get repairs done, the property manager Steven Phillips, could not produce documents that I had asked for when I clearly said that I had never received them. He got upset, raised his voice and told me to leave his office. This happened on two different occasions. The second time I had someone with me to witness the behavior. He put us out of the office simply for providing proof of my communication efforts, asking for a copy of paperwork that he said he had left on my door but I had never actually received, and threatened to call the police. It has been over a year and no repairs have been made. There was poison oak growing through a window in the bedroom that I had to personally pay someone to take care of. It has been over a week and I still have not received this paperwork and my calls and messages to corporate (DEL Development Corporation) have not been returned. I have been a resident for over 5 years and never late on rent. This last year under the new management has been horrible."
