"I am a previous resident of the Villas at North Star. I recently moved out but experienced issues with the lease transfer to the new resident. I and the new resident have paid all related fees, including a $75 application fee and a $400 lease modification fee. Despite this, there has not been any formal acknowledgment of the lease transfer, beyond a single email confirmation. The new resident was not given the opportunity to sign a fresh lease agreement. This has resulted in potential liability concerns for myself, and significant inconvenience for the new resident. Further, the new tenant was unable to access the resident portal or the associated app, which means they can't pay rent online or request maintenance - basic functionalities any resident would expect."

"After lived there for three years, I was charged around $700 for a few scratches on the kitchen floor when I moved out (and another $300 for stove and carpet were not cleaned as new). Those scratches were there before I moved in. I pointed them out on the move-in inspection file and took the photo. However, they still charged the money from my deposit, and refused to communicate (I called the leasing office and they told me to email the manager. I emailed the manager twice and get no reply). I guess the leasing office know that I am a foreigner and it's unlikely for me to come back to Ann Arbor to deal with this, so they unfairly charged, and would charge more if I had more deposit."

"Ryan and the maintenance team do a great job - whether it is maintaining the pool or processing individual work requests. Just recently my bath faucet was leaking and it was fixed within a day by Ryan. Leasing office team also very friendly."

"First off let me tell you the staff in the office has been amazing to work with & super supportive of my needs as a tenant. The apartment was beautiful & very well maintained. The grounds were very well kept as well. I really liked how close the apartment is to everything in the AA area. Location is everything & this made life so much easier!!! I've read a lot of the other reviews and i don't feel like the good is mentioned enough! Everyone is so quick to complain, while letting everyone know, but no one remembers to pass on the good news!! Here is the GOOD NEWS: THIS PLACE IS AN AWESOME PLACE TO LIVE!! HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE BEST APARTMENTS & COMPANIES I'VE EXPERIENCED!!!!"

"I lived here for more than 2 years from 2019-2022 and had a great experience. The amenities are amazing, the staff are extremely friendly, and our apartment was spectacular. 1. Amenities: There is a gigantic pool (far bigger than any apartment I have lived in) that is well maintained throughout the swimming season. It’s a great place to relax, exercise, or generally cool off especially towards sunset where you can enjoy the colors over top the leasing office. The gym has a lot of equipment including a Peloton, treadmills, full set of dumbbells with benches, a cable weight system, and other leg cable weight workout equipment. Also, there is a well maintained tennis court right by the pool. The complimentary coffee is the best I have ever had, and I guarantee you will feel the same way (get the triple cafe latte for some kick or the vanilla/chocolate latte for something sweet and tasty). 2. The Staff: The leasing staff are all great people. I will not mention names in case they would not like to be named but seriously all of the people in the office are incredibly friendly (I would know because I saw them everyday to get that amazing coffee). Don’t believe all the reviews that complain about how unfriendly/unhelpful the staff are. In my experience, those people are either very disrespectful when communicating to the staff, have unrealistic expectations (there are more than 300 units and way more tenants to look out for), or they have a fundamental misunderstanding of the powers given to the office staff versus what the Property Company’s policies dictate. Seriously, almost all of my issues were resolved same day, and I never had to wait more than a couple days to have even a minor issue resolved. 3. The apartments are very nice for what you are paying for. Because this company uses an algorithm to produce rental rates on any given day, your chances of finding a great place for a great price will go up significantly in slower rental times of the year (try to sign when the majority of UM students aren’t). You will not regret living here."
