Reviews
"The Corner feels like a dorm, no-frills apartment complex or a hotel. TLDR, it's not a bad option for the area but recognize you are paying for location and the rest is a bit of chance. Pros: location, safety, washer and dryer in units, elevator, mail storage (sorta), good internet, good power (doesn't go out during a storm), full size stove/oven. Cons: as others have mentioned lack of respect for community space - trash left in the chute area when it doesn't fit usually on a holiday weekend vs taking it downstairs to the dumpster (this ends up smelling and for that matter attracting pests), dog poop left in the hallway, and vomit in the stairwell. We get emails about it, but in terms of behavior change or consequences for those not respecting the area - I have no clue. Staff cleans it up and we cycle to the next time it happens with emails again. If you pay for parking - it's at your own risk with the sporting events at the Ballpark in terms of damage to your car. Parking costs extra and it's getting harder to find free parking in the area with development. Construction has blocked some areas. Noise from neighbors, unfortunately, the sound proofing of the complex is not good. You can hear everything. Noise from the hallway, noise from upstairs, noise from next door, even conversations through the vents. My first year here was fine - all my neighbors were quiet enough - sure I'd hear normal sounds but it was never consistent, at odd hours nor impending/nor changing what I'd do. Sadly, my second year a dog that barked non-stop moved in. Seriously, non-stop - unless the owners were home. This ended after about a month. It's been downhill from there in terms of noise. And noticeably takes a turn when Wayne State is back in session. You might wonder how can student's afford this rent? I believe they chop up the rooms for the 2 and 3 bedrooms and rent out the rooms. Then, maybe some have wealth and I could be mislabeling students. But it's noisier Sept - May and also when you see less respect for the common areas. Others have noted sounds from outside, those don't bother me since I expected/welcomed that based on location. Plus, it's fun to watch some of the events at the Ballpark. When, I moved in the oven, dishwasher drainage, dryer vent, bathroom shower drain, floor boards and the toilet under the rim were all dirty to a point of ick. Cleaning someone else's hair, dead skin cells, and drainage sludge is a bit gross. Just as noise travels, so do smells. You can smell weed often, occasionally I smell cigarettes on the balcony but it's not as much. You can smell weed walking down the hallways. As well as through the vents, along with different cooking smells (some good, some bad). The last couple of months it has been increasingly overpowering on the balcony. We don't have access to recycling bins. We don't have community amenities - there was talk of roof access in the beginning, but it's never happened. Essentially you're paying for the location. If you made it this far, I'll reiterate that my first year was great. I looked at other places in the downtown area and still come back that this was my best option based on price, washer/dryer in apt, full-size oven, wanting mail storage, and needing strong internet. Take the reviews with a grain of salt they did an incentive awhile back, if you left a review you got entered into a raffle. Unsure how many of these they've done."
"I moved in here 2days ago and I was filled with anticipation when I first moved into my apartment. The Corner located good place and previous reviews mentioned bad smells, but actually good. The manager’s kindness and exceptional assistance truly stood out their quick responses and willingness to address my inquiries were highly appreciated. He consistently provided helpful solutions. Nonetheless, the aspect that gave me pause was the cleanliness of the room upon my arrival. It was evident that the cleaning had not been thorough, which was a bit disappointing."
"Great experience. I needed to get moved in to a place ASAP and it worked out perfectly. Britney scheduled me on a tour the next day. As for the move, Devin knows what he's doing. Definitely did a great job. It was the most seamless move in process with Devins help. The apartment is in a nice, safe location. The city view and ballpark view are both great. The apartment already comes equipped with everything you need to stay comfortable."
"I cannot emphasize enough how Devin, the leasing manager, played an indispensable role in making my stay an outstanding experience so far. Devin's dedication to ensuring my comfort and satisfaction was evident from the moment I arrived. Throughout my stay, Devin's responsiveness and helpfulness were truly exceptional. Whether it was a minor maintenance issue or simply seeking recommendations for local services. His prompt and efficient handling of any concerns I had was truly impressive, making me feel valued and well taken care of. Overall, I'm very happy with The Corner Apartments."
"Overall, I'm really happy with The Corner Apartments. I've been here over two years and the staff are excellent. Kayla and Jamal are very attentive to any issues. I live on the "outside" (Trumbull side of building) so don't have an issue with the sometimes unnecessarily loud events at the Corner Ballpark. There are two bars across the street, but that's something (ambient noise) one should expect to deal with in city living. The building is only a couple years old, and well insulated for both sound and energy conservation. Even in Winter I can often barely use my heat. Love the balcony! Nice to have outside space in an apartment. My "cons" list isn't too serious. No place for bike storage and a rooftop deck that was promised during construction never materialized. Also, it's a real shame a complex this big doesn't provide any recycling receptacles in the parking lot. My biggest complaint is mostly outside of the facility's control. Unfortunately, despite the moderately pricey rents, there are some tenants who treat the building like cheap student housing: leaving trash in common areas, and staining the new lobby carpeting incredibly quickly after it was installed. As I said, overall very happy, which is why I signed a second lease. The location is great and the value is there considering the almost new construction and very attentive staff. Would definitely recommend to a friend!"
