"Worst apartment for me, worst service from new owner Ross. Under old owner Bob everything was good. My bed room always have a water leakage from ground and issue never got fixed. New management always refused to work for maintenance. They don’t believe in fixing issues. They just want more money."

"I have recently visited this complex and it was a nice little community of 3 buildings! The grounds were very clean and well maintained. The staff which I seen the manager and the maintenance man were very friendly and answered every question I had and showed the apartment that was very clean and freshly painted and carpeted! The appliances were not new but very clean. Although I decided to move closer to work I was seriously considering moving here! It looks like a nice quiet place to live and very close to many shops, restaurants ,schools and businesses!"

"Originally We moved in under the old owner Bob. Life was great there, BUT when Bob sold the place and the new owner took over This place went downhill drastically. The new owner is unreasonable, he wants 2020 prices for 1980’s amenities. The septic backed up every month multiple times the plumbing pipes are too small for the amount of units per building. The cable reception is terrible because the new owner doesn’t want to replace the old coaxial lines. The people being allowed to move in now are less than desirable quality and the cops are there every day. Nearly a month Later now and we are still waiting on our deposit to be returned. The laundry rooms are full of mold There were holes in our ceiling and bathroom the new owner refused to fix spiders And bugs galore. Over all for the raised rental amounts you can find something way nicer with a pool and clubhouse and better maintained than this pit of despair......."

"It's not that bad here at Berry Lane Apts. When I applied to live here last Dec., I met with the new owner (who pretended to be an employee), maintenance person and apt manager (the old owner). They told me that it was a quiet community with mostly long-term residents. I later discovered that, while it IS quiet, many of the residents were new because rent hikes by the new owner had forced the old tenants out. Supposedly, though, many of those tenants were trouble. The day I paid my security deposit and got my keys, the latter two both quit at the same time. The owners have also had a string of bad luck with maintenance people going back several years, with the old owner just putting up with it. I ended up becoming the apt manager from December to February and still live here. Most of the time I've lived here there doesn't seem to have been a cleaning team for the public areas. The owner also owns Mohawk Trails Apartments and the same thing happened (and is still happening) there as rent prices have increased at both properties by literally hundreds of $ since he bought them, with few improvements being made to them. The rent increases have nothing to do with extra features being added to apts, and I'm not sure what the justification for them is since I haven't seen any improvements here other than some decorations on the walls of the Berry Lane buildings, which I got permission to buy at St. Vincent's and spent less than $100 on. I also heard from different maintenance people that the owner doesn't want to spend money on repairs, and buys really cheap parts, and I've seen hired workers walk off the job because they were unpaid and/or didn't like that the owner wanted cheap repairs done. I observed a few instances where tenants had no heat/electricity and he made them wait up to 48 hours before getting it fixed because he refused to use anyone other than who he wanted last winter. Since the pandemic, repairs have been scaled back even further. Neither property has a swimming pool, fitness center, playground or the other amenities that you find at many other apt complexes in Milford, although Berry Lane offers ample off-street parking, a laundry room in each building, and a picnic table and grill under a tree in the front parking area. Despite the lack of anything other than space here at Berry Lane, rent has increased to around $900 for 2 BRs. On the down side, if two washing machines are used at the same time, the excess water floods into the room from the drain in the floor. This also happens at Mohawk Trails. Toilets tend to clog regularly - even if you just pee. Lower apts periodically flood (rain, septic, roots in pipes, etc.). The back of the property is also wooded and you can walk down to a small creek, but it can be quite muddy if it's rained in the last 3 days. The dumpster provided is usually full 1-2 before the day of garbage pickup, and that is also true at Mohawk Trails. The carpeting in the common areas doesn't get cleaned. Berry Lane's apts are fairly spacious with about 1,200' sq for 2 BR, and in buildings B &C they come with HVAC and a water heater. They are carpeted and the carpeting is freshly cleaned before being shown, and a new coat of paint is put on (but the quality of the work isn't that great). Some pets are allowed. The windows are a combo of very old aluminum-frame ones that often don't have screens and new vinyl ones that have a single screen that I can't even figure out how to remove for cleaning. The old ones let in a LOT of cold air in the winter, and the new ones leak cold air, too. Balcony screen doors are damaged, as are some cabinets. An exterminator came through in February and I've seen very few bugs inside. Pot smokers use the bathroom vent fans, which are connected to each other, so it can make mine stink, too. Otherwise, they make the hallway stink. :("

"Be careful renting from the new owner, I lived there 7 years, loved it with the previous owner! I moved November 1st 2019 because the new owner raised the rent 175$ a month, I took care of the apartment, took pictures to prove it, I was told all they had to do was paint, which is normal, and over a month and a half later still don’t have my deposit back!! He’s past his legal time of returning my deposit, Looks like we will be going to court, because I will get what is legally mine!! I heard he took other tenants to court to get 5,000 from them, so beware of the new owner if you move there, I’d think twice about it!!! If I could’ve put 0 starts I would, because I don’t even give it a one star with the new owner!!"
