"Our first time here was just OK. The service wasn't the friendliest. We had to figure out it was seat yourself after standing there for a minute and not being acknowledged. The food took forever once we ordered at the counter. Several people who ordered after us, were served before us. The burgers were average. The shakes and malts were above average. Not sure we will come out of our way again but Grandpa Joe's candy shop was a hit!"

"It's a nice old-fashioned burger place, but you can get breakfast and other stuff there. This is not a fast food place. We went for breakfast. Hubby got eggs n bacon n toast. I got French toast which was better than most places, like, real home made French toast, at least more like it than most places. You order at the counter, pick up food at the counter, and take it to your table on a tray. Parking is on the street since it is downtown Troy. Clean place."
