"Walked up to the door. A familiar worker was standing at the door. It was 8:43pm. Aware I was only getting a case of water and didn't want to be of any inconvenience. The door was locked. The gentleman let me in, after confirming with the lady behind the counter. I entered the store. After getting down the aisle, next to the entrance, to get the case of water, I am immediately told to take my backpack off. I responded, that my medications are in it in case I need them, also nothing else is in it for shopping and that was usual, it won't come off while I'm shopping.. The lady employee said you got to go then. I responded with all I need is some bottled water. She didn't care and immediately pulled out her phone to call the cops to remove me, as she said. I walked out. Telling her again, all I needed was water. Her response was, " I ain't got time for you stealing." Then shut the door. .. That had to be the most uncomfortable time I've ever had in that store. I carry a backpack, to make it easier, not to dislocate my arms from shoulders, from carrying bags with hands.. it's also something that I've been using for groceries when I go there and have Never, been bothered before.. I go there weekly and spend on average $100.00, every visit. although, this was a quick visit I was making because of time of closing. I have an account with family dollar and don't get how people can just single out someone and assume they are a thief. It's insulting ! What irritates me about it all is how I'm approached to take something off of myself that isn't getting taken off for any reason, but only at the counter to place my purchases in it. While women walk in with purses including purses bigger than my backpack. They don't ask them to leave it up front. Either you get more comments than you can handle or really could care less about your customer service.. this has to be the shadiest way a business can operate. To allow such an operation to exist is pathetic.. get a better way to deal with your thieves. What gets me more is that I thought this store was my go to place, because there are no stores nearby. The store was clean and organized and employees were friendly or helpful.. not last night. One time I got back your merchandise, something a person stole right in front of me.. Not only do you have a thievery issue, but it also affects people that literally have no ill thoughts. While understanding why you request the removing of a bag while shopping, it feels completely insulting! People that steal give everyone a bad name.. I despise all thieves.. you will when they do it to you."
"The people that work here are nice, it isn't the best looking store however, that's a corporate issue. The employees really work to make this store an inviting place to shop."
"Half the sign is missing, most of the windows and doors are boarded up, and the ones that aren't have bars on them. Looks like it was abandoned years ago and somehow amazingly open. Doesn't look safe at all and the neighborhood is not. good."
"August 1,2022. The William St Plaza store is the worst Family Dollar store in the downtown area. On this day 6 people in line, waited for almost 10 minutes for a cashier. 2 clerks finally came to service us (at just 1 cash register) they both were rude and disrespectful to us. And when several of us said we were going to complain to the company, we were told "if you didn't like the service then go somewhere else"!. The company really needs to do a surprise visit to this store!!"
"The main Family Dollar I have been going to because (you guessed it) I live in the area!!! Once again, the service is good and it's usually always clean... The staff are VERY friendly and will always welcome you when you arrive. Can be busy at times but you usually will not wait for long. Everything is stocked and the pricing isn't too bad unless you start grabbing things that you don't necessarily need... Overall, I give this location two thumbs up!!! Oh and all of the new workers there now ARE GREAT!!! A few of the veterans are just as good... Keep it up guys!!!"
