"Stayed at the Anchor Inn several times pre-Covid, and always had a great experience. Yesterday's stay was quite different, however. Stayed in the Main Building, room 104. Several lights did not work. The room safe was inoperative. The side entrance from the parking light has a door locking system, for safety, but was unlocked all day, even when we returned from dinner at 9 pm. Tried to call the desk several times, but the small black room phone had no direct dial buttons, no instructions and no labelling. It went unanswered every time we tried to call the desk about the issues we were experiencing. The breakfast "buffet" was dismal...vending machine type bagged pastries with expiration dates that were two month's past (indelible), no juices available, and no one at the desk to complain to about it. I understand that there is new ownership, and it is evident that they have a very different idea than the previous owners about customer service. At checkout, the clerk was very apologetic and said she was going to adjust the rate in compensation, but have yet to receive her promised email. We will not stay here again!"
"We stayed here two nights during our East Coast Fall Foliage Family Vacation and it was amazing! Our room was spacious, clean and the views from our balcony were stunning! The staff was friendly and helpful plus they recommended The Skipper House Restaurant which definitely had the best food we ate our entire trip. We sat out on the dock at the fire pit and visited with other guests both nights and it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip! We would love to stay here again!"
"Very nice hotel. The basic room is small, but adequate. Next time a suite. Nicely appointed. Immaculate. Very friendly and helpful staff. Expensive, but OK considering location and quality. Highly recommended. We will be back."
