"Our stay here was above and beyond expectation…the location was perfectly placed by the shore and shops/restaurant, all staff were kind and helpful, pricing is so reasonable, facilities were clean, all parking and check in instructions were clear, staff was always quick to text an answer, and the discounts on dining at the Mad Batter were such a perk. So lovely that we’re considering making this an annual trip!"

"So, we really wanted to love this hotel during a recent November stay, but we won't be coming back. The staff were all pleasant and professional, but the room -- #20, on the ground floor with a balcony -- was not as desirable as we had hoped. A few things: The entrance to the room is directly behind the hostess podium for the Mad Batter restaurant, so there was the continual uncomfortable looks as we walked past people waiting to be seated and the staff to get to the door behind the hostess. Then, once in the room, there was no privacy lock on the door, so anyone with a key could have come into the room while we were there. Then, the only window for the room opens to the alley between the Carroll Villa and the Virginia Hotel -- which would have been okay, but the Virginia has recently retrofitted their porch area into dine-in seating, so our view both nights were people eating dinner. The alley is also a prime way for the Virginia staff to get trash out and wood for their fireplaces in, so the noise was constant during the day. The balcony was not useable -- and not because of the cold -- it was because of the constant worker activity taking place all day, and people walking by on the sidewalk and taking pictures all hours of the night. It might actually be a good idea to convert the balcony into a private entrance for room #20. They could keep the seating area, but this way the room entrance isn't through the restaurant. For a hotel located on such a busy, highly lit street, I would also recommend they invest in "blackout curtains" that you find at many city hotels. Even with the curtains and shades drawn completely there was still a lot of light in the room, which made it difficult to sleep. The last issue was parking. During our stay, we were not offered any off-street parking options, so it was a constant chore to find parking and make sure that the meter was "fed". We did use the Parking app, but in certain areas there were time limits on how long you could park. Again, this is a busy area, so it only added to the frustration of staying here. With other room options just two or three streets away without any of these annoyances, we won't be returning."

"Everyone was very warm and friendly from checking in, housekeeping and the restaurant. Enjoyed breakfast and good food at the Mad Batter restaurant. The room was nice, clean and a big updated bathroom. Fall special was a great value."

"We have been coming here for years. Prime location.. But this year was horrible! The staff was rude, and inconsiderate (with the exception of a few). Not friendly at all. The hostess on the morning shifts looked like they were still wearing jammies. Very unprofessional. We have never been treated this poorly. The dinners are very overpriced for the quality of food they serve. The breakfast is pretty good though. We We're told in a very embarrassing way, that no outside food or drinks permitted. But.... the coffee that we had at breakfast was from the parlor of the hotel. (That we are staying in) Very very disappointing. The only friendly employees there were the maid service. We will be looking for other accommodations in the future."
