The Folly Restaurant
“Overall great experience and service. Location on the bridge itself has a wonderful view that is fitting for the nice dine in experience. We had the afternoon tea which was well prepared and scones were great. Worth mentioning the afternoon tea/ coffee are unlimited re-fills so feel free to make the most of it. Also if possible, ask for a window seat to soak in the view. The Folly is also a gallery and has a cute boutique shop.”
Piwnica Restaurant
“A very full menu with wonderful homemade traditional recipes. Fair warning, the portions are on the large side. Our waitress was really helpful in suggesting different things to try and the atmosphere was lovely.”
The Reading Room
“We went for Valentine’s Day, the place looked really nice. Food was outstanding, specially the linguine with black truffle sauce and the Panna cotta.”

“Just visited for a Sunday lunch and a really nice experience. Very lucky to enjoy one of the last sunny weekends of the summer. The service was genuinely welcoming and authentic throughout. The food was absolutely 5 star - thanks for looking after us :-)”
Cherwell Boathouse Restaurant
“If you are scrolling the reviews and thinking if its worth going - please do it! Don’t even scroll further! You will receive: Phenomenal service - very friendly, kind admin and personnel! They took care of everything, our table that we booked 15min before arrival, asking about my daughter’s glass if that’s okay for her apple juice, making sure we like the food and enjoying our time. Simple but very well done food. My starter with pork just changed my life! Our dessert with almond and creme fraiche was unbelievably delicious! For starters as complimentary from the restaurant they brought bread with salted butter which was very fresh and delicious! Overall, we will definitely come back in summer to seat outside and enjoy this delicious cuisine!”
Caprice Restaurant at Crowne Plaza Reading East
“Stayed for one night, our package included three course dinner, bottle of prosecco and strawberries dipped in chocolate. Meal was very good, choice between an Indian menu and more traditional menu and could mix and match which was added bonus. Food came quickly and portions were perfect size, plenty of room for dessert! Slow cooked beef was delicious for main, the chocolate sorbet was special for dessert. Also the marmalade pudding was something to write home about. Servers were absolutely lovely and very helpful with questions we had about menu (Callum and Rob served us). Would definitely recommend.”
Biryani Boyzz (Restaurant/Takeaway/ Reading)

The Clipper Restaurant by The Relais Henley (Henley-on-Thames)
“We had the spring menu at lunchtime on Friday which is three courses for £30. The food was outstanding, especially for the price. The service could not have been any better. The team were incredibly friendly, and the right level of attentive. We were there with our four week old newborn and everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Highly recommended.”
Revolution Reading
“We had a brunch booked yesterday evening, upon arrival we could tell it was extremely busy with other "brunchers" and two very large parties for hen dos. Due to this the service was slow, but the staff made sure to check in with us and apologise for the wait etc. They were working incredibly hard and looked very stressed trying to get through all the tickets and make sure the brunches were worth the money with the bottomless drinks. We had a great time, enjoyed the drinks and food. All the staff working last night should be praised for their hard work, we didn't catch any names to mention them personally but honestly they all done great in a stressful situation.”
Spice Oven Indian & Chinese Restaurant
“Spice oven offers great buffet deal at reasonable price. Environment is fresh, green and clean. Food quality is best. Friendly staff, waiter and waitress. Great service”
1705 Restaurant & Bar
“I only had a drink In here so couldn't do.ent on the food. The bar was very nicely decorated, it had a separate area for dining it in my opinion, should have had a separate area for adults only as being in a hotel, there was a lot of kids in there, this isn't me being pompous as i was one of the people who had a child with them, just think the people who don't have kids staying with them should have a nice area to relax in without screaming kids. Prices were reasonable for a hotel bar and service was fast and polite.”
Cucina Dei Sapori
“4 of us have just returned from a fabulous evening meal at the 'new' Cucina dei Sapori. Lovely welcoming team, great menu and wine list, brilliant service - all in all a fantastic time and we wish them all the best in the future. We will certainly be returning.”
Moya

Polish Kitchen
“Golonka: Portion so big, the ladies beside my table gasped when this beautiful plate appeared. Did I finish the entire plate? Yes. Skin, meat, mashed potatoes, sauerkraut, and all. Hostess is an incredibly friendly, sweet and pleasant lady. I felt at home. Pork knuckle: Skin was golden crispy well seasoned, meat was fall from bone tender and well-brined juicy. Come with a hungry belly.”
Lusso
“We come here lots and cannot say enough positive things about the staff. All staff are incredibly helpful and always polite. The pizzas are freshly made and taste amazing. Lusso are always happy to tweak the ingredients on the pizza or pasta to a customers liking too. Ice creams are delicious and worth popping in for a takeaway alone. At busy times and weekends you need to book as it is extremely popular.”
EAT@EAST CAFE'
“Looks shabby on the outside but don't let it fool you a lovely homely restaraunt with beautiful food and kind staff it is the best Chinese food I have ever had. I strongly recommend the thai ice tea with lemon basil seeds”
Restauracja Syrena
“If You love european dishes this is definitely must visit place for You. I have felt like home while dining in, reminds me of my grandparents. Thank You ever so much and I am wishing You all the success for the future! See You soon!”
The Fat Duck
“Took my other half here for a special birthday last month, well worth it. Right from the start the experience was great, greeted outside and entered in to an area closed off from the restaurant before being taken to our table. The atmosphere is quite cosy but the tables are nicely spaced apart, watch out for the beams if you are tall! All of the staff were really friendly and knowledgeable, but not at all pretentious. We spent over 3 hours here, but the time flew past. Reading the guide book between each course was great to find out some additional information about the dishes. Plus, the staff were great at answering any additional questions. Some of the courses were interactive and obviously not everything was what it seemed. All the food was amazing, but it can only reach a certain level, so it was the experience as a whole (& the staff) that really made it. Yes it's expensive, but we both thoroughly enjoyed our evening in every aspect, well worth it for a special occasion. p.s. visit the toilets!”
Palmieri's
“Quick stop on the basis of a quick google search. Was very impressed with the cheese and onion toastie and the latte. I’d certainly pop back in the near future - prices are a little high but a typical for a family run business.”
London Street Brasserie
“London Street Brasserie located on the riverside at The Oracle is one of my favourite places to eat. It’s a special treat so I don’t go often but I have never been disappointed. The venue itself oozes class and is a relaxed chic? environment spread across a couple of floors and outside on the riverside terrace. Tables are spaced apart well giving you a bit of my space privacy for your date or dining companions. The menu offers good choices across meat, poultry, game, fish and vegan. The wine list is impressive and you probably can’t buy a bad wine. Prices are inline with this though so choose wisely. The staff are very professional, polite, friendly and attentive. Tip: if you are going to have a starter and a main (and perhaps desert) don’t get the bread appetiser. Don’t get me wrong, the artesian bread is fresh, warm and delicious but there is a lot of it. Not a bad thing in itself but if you fill up on bread you will struggle with your main! The starter and main portion sizes are deceptive. Don’t fill up in bread! Also, maybe don’t buy two bottles of wine straight from the off. My date and I struggled to finish our bottle of red and white respectively (though to be fair she did a better job putting it away than I did!). Love this place and totally recommend it. Excellent place to take your date, your partner or your spouse. Also for a couples treat you can’t go wrong. Pricier than most local competition but as a treat: so worth it.”
Heavens Kitchen
“Totally Sensational! We arrived on a Friday night but hadn’t booked and wanted to try the restaurant! We are so happy we did! Wonderful food- probably the best steak I’ve eaten, washed down with a beautiful red in a clean crisp glass. The ambience and staff add such value to the experience, they are so friendly and it seems like such a lovely place to work! No faults at all with this restaurant and I strongly urge everyone to dine here if they can!!! LGBT friendly too! Thank you for our trip to heaven!”
Toprak Kebab
“Have to say I wasn’t expecting great quality, ordered a lamb and chicken Shish in a wrap with mozzarella sticks but OH MY GOD it was amazing! The wrap tasted delicious and the mozzarella sticks were banging! The price was so reasonable AND they were early. Will definitely be ordering again”
The Red Rose
“Best Indian/Bangladeshi restaurant in Basingstoke. Had a takeaway last night and excellent chicken jalfriaze and chicken reyzala with samosas. Lovely extra touches of onion mix, salad, dressing and a free coke.”
Villa Bianca
“Exceptional and personal. Excellent quality food. A perfect touch of Italy right in your back garden!! Highly reccomend”
Bierhaus
“2nd visit here & both have been great. No frills but good honest authentic German beer and food. First time I had bratwurst which were delicious & the sauerkraut the best I've had outside of Germany. This time Beirhaus roulade, pork filled with cheese/gherkin & pan fried, it was tasty but unfortunately rather overcooked on one side which made it tough. Think it was probably an oversight on chefs part as all other meals have been top class. The wiener schnitzel is amazing! I particularly liked the strawberry beer and the banana beer also went down well. Would recommend a visit if you like trying different cuisines, we will definitely return.”
