"I started feeling unwell within 10 minutes of entering our room and unpacking. Upon further inspection, I found a filthy furnace grate and removed a large amount of material from it. I have idiopathic anaphylaxis and felt enough symptoms to take Benadryl and get out an Epipen. I went to shower, and discovered a large break in the shower ceiling that had mold on it. I immediately contacted customer service through chat. They were polite and kind. We packed up and stayed at the Gabriel Richard location. The staff were wonderful, our room was cozy, and we didn't have to spend our evening away in the ER. I was slightly shocked that we received a $50 refund for our trouble. I love Sonder in Chicago. I think we will find a different hotel next time we stay in Detroit."

"I really do love this place. I love the location. There’s so much to do and see around here. You’re right in Cadillac Square where all the Christmas lights are and The Detroit Christmas Tree. Absolutely gorgeous! We enjoy nice talks with the security guards. And appreciate their presence. However, we have been without hot water for three days now…. They fixed the water and gave us a %50 refund for each day without water. (It was 6 days.)"

"The location was great, near the Casinos downtown. Cadillac Square was very nice and beautifully lit for New Year’s. I had a few minor issues, but worked them out with management quickly. Keep in mind that the 7-Eleven doesn’t stay open 24 seven and I agree with the other guest; It is a bit sketchy. Also, parking can be Pricey …The room was nice and has many amenities that I wouldn’t expect to find in an apartment.The bedding was nice and comfortable. I wouldn’t recommend this for families, but for single individuals and couples. Nonetheless, I will be considering this place again for the next New Year’s Eve."

"Great location, lots to do nearby. We stayed for four nights and walked to Comerica for games each day. The apartment was well-stocked. There's a market nearby (City Market, corner of Brush & East Congress) for just about anything you need to buy. We had an amazing view of the landmark Wayne County Building out our windows. Great value for the price. The security guards were great and Sonder was good about checking in to see if we needed anything. Met some nice people staying in units near us. The car noise from the street was sometimes loud at night, but I think it would be the same anywhere in Detroit. There were a few panhandlers in the area, but they were far outnumbered by people who were out to enjoy the nearby restaurants, pubs, etc. The police were also very visible. We would definitely stay here again."

"The location is convenient to downtown attractions. The room was clean. For these reasons I’m giving this stay a 3 Star review. The other things we experienced deserve a 1 Star. At night you walk through a metal detector on the street to get to the front door as this building sits above a busy and sketchy 7 Eleven. Along with the metal detector there were Police Trailers, Flashing Lights and groups of people in front of the condo along with some other questionable people in the lobby. Getting into the room at night was very scary. Although it’s just a five or ten minute walk from the casino we elected to take an Uber for safety. We did not feel very safe outside after dark. We also received a text around midnight from Sonder that we had been smoking and throwing cigarettes from the window and we were risking our reservation. We had not been in the room all day or night. I was told that these texts go out to the entire floor if they suspect someone is smoking. I found this very offensive as we do not smoke in any way shape or form and to be threatened for someone else’s actions seems a bit ridiculous especially at midnight! I would advise any one with children to think twice about staying here. Single people or couples consider taking Ubers at night."
