“Had a perfect experience here. Staff were super friendly, ambience was great (massive fan of the dim lighting) and food & drink (sparkling lemonade is 10/10) was amazing. Came for my wife’s birthday and the complimentary dessert was really nice, flag on our table was a cool touch too. What impressed me was how accommodating the staff was, we requested non alcoholic soy sauce as we are Muslim and there was no fuss made, they ensured us they’d make sure there’s no alcohol in our food at all. We ordered the black cod and our server told us that they didn’t include it in the order as it has alcohol and offered to replace it with an alternative. Very considerate service, would definitely return and recommend to everyone I know!”

“I cannot recommend this place enough. Me and my fiancé actually came here on our 1st date, so of course 1yr later we had to return as we loved it so much. If you want top quality but affordable sushi this is the place to go to. Our bill came upto nearly £100 this included drinks as well. Really cute and chilled place, the staff are helpful and friendly. You don't have to wait long for the food. I would say though that the tables are not big enough to fit multiple things on there once you have your drinks there, condiments and 2 plates its already tight. So we only ordered 2 dishes at a time and took breaks. If you like to eat alot like we do then save it for a special occasion as £100 isn't just a normal day expenses, but if you are a 2,3 plates kind of person it is a lovely place to go for a meal. An example of costing we ordered a pink lady (8pcs) £12.95 for top quality sushi that is value for money. Can't wait to go next year for our 2 year anniversary!”

“I've ordered twice and the food has come very fast and hot. The food is authentic enough to be amazing but not overpowering. I love their katsu curry very much and will always order that from now on. It's lovely to have a halal good sushi restaurant close to me. I just wish they made bubble tea as well but that's more my preference rather than the restaurant. I would highly recommend to everyone. I also recommend ordering directly from their website as they always have some sort of discount.”

As a reviewer of car audio by Pioneer, JVC, Kenwood, Panasonic, Sony and Clarion, as well as home cinema, I was flown to Las Vegas for the CES show and thrice to Japan. At one time, the home audio and car audio department had a bit of rivalry as to which department could be more stunning in their entertainment of their honoured guests. We were taken to a Japanese restaurant in the Tokyo equivalent of the Hollywood Hills of LA and treated to a meal in a private room, served by women in £40,000 silken layered garb, that cost our hosts £1,800 a head. I was shocked when I found out years later! They even had a museum of Samurai armour, all older than 500 years, or "it wasn't old enough.." The point is, this sumo-sized reviewer actually knows his Japanese food. RIGHT..REVIEW: First, I apologise for not coming in sooner! I have followed the place for ever. Used to sit down for posh fish and chips when the top end chippy next door had it as their restaurant! Then, it opened and I was a bit taken aback. No Ikura? No Unagi? (That's the lovely salmon eggs and the only cooked sushi..eel) I could understand that there was no sea urchin roe...that's serious sushi logistics from sea to plate..but there were only three kinds of fish? Finally I went to dinner, as MeJulie was having a steak with her girl chum from work..and GOT IT! Fact is, this place has taken the most brilliant set of choices and is serving the freshest, best quality and ONLY in the varieties they can guarantee... so no fancy ebi shrimp, nor clams..but that is to miss the point. The quality and presentation is SO Nihonjin, it's amazing. I had Yakitori, and they were served on a slice of REAL BANANA LEAF! Nearly all places use a plastic sheet-alike, even good ones. And there was a garnish so seasonal it was perfect. Pea shoots and two tiny little edible flowers were there. The sushi was perfectly cut, meltingly fresh and even the crockery it was served on was delightful. OISHI DES! (means YUMMY!) The Miso soup I started with, was ridiculously good! Big lumps of tofu, loads of seaweed..rather than it being rationed..and rich and flavourful of quality Miso paste. Great omen for what was to come. The seaweed salad (theme here, me likey algae!) was perfect and totally set off by toasted sesame..and it all added up to the most darn AUTHENTIC Japanese food had in the UK since the Oriental City closed in Colindale! I was so blown away, I had to ask who was the genius nipponophile? It turns out, it's at least three of them..and the chefs are deeply skilled. I will return and try more of the cooked items..it is thriving new eatery and I feel lucky to have it on my doorstep. Totally recommended. GOCHIOSOSAMA DE'SHTA! Domo arigato gozaimas.”

“Editing review back to 5 star, after consistently delicious take away. I used to be a fan of Hashi, then the quality of food dropped. I haven’t ordered anything for over a year until recently, to be pleasantly surprised. I’ve now had a great experience 3 times in a row and can say Crunch and Hoshi maki are great again, Nasu Dengaku is the best grilled aubergine I’ve tried, salmon Tataki is delicious too. Everything tastes really fresh. Please keep it up!”

“My new favourite place to dine in north London, don't miss the legendary shabu-shabu meal deal there - great value for money (£27 per head for a 2-hour unlimited order of food on the first six pages of the menu). The starter plate itself is full of everything and you can also order beef and pork slices plus all sorts of vegetables, sushis and rolls as much as you like and as many times as you wish within the first 90 minutes. Drinks are very reasonably priced and the staff were all very friendly and made us feel welcomed. The place could get very crowded due to its popularity so to avoid waiting in a long queue, be there early like before six o'clock.”

“Great casual sushi experience. The vibe was great, specially as it started getting busy. Sushi was unapologeticly not as authentic but delivered great flavour and combinations. Everything was well prepared and the service was impeccable. Our waiter was always around and happy to assist with everything we needed. Wine list was unexpectedly comprehensive and the cocktails were very interesting. Definitely would recommend for a casual night out.”

“I am a Japanese customer, and the food here is excellent. Very genuine and fresh. There are good mixture of items on menu: sushi/sashimi to cooked dishes also. Highly recommend Kotta sushi to anyone and the restaurant is also beautifully decorated providing warm cosy atmosphere.”

“New favourite sushi restaurant in London!! Small but very authentic, only a few tables which makes it more special. We loved everything we ordered from the menu, no exceptions and that never happens, shout out to the chefs. The quality of the fish is really good and the ratio fish/rice in the sushi is amazing! Loved the miso soup, prawn gyozas, the temakis were great as well as the crispy prawn roll uramaki. Expensive but worth it. Special mention to the Spanish waitress that served us, she was helpful and really nice. We will be back for sure.”

“A lovely gem in Wood Green. The decor is filled with plants, making the place feel cosy and private. This was my second time at Oita, and I enjoyed it better than the first time. The menu offers an interesting choice of food, and I found some dishes that I enjoyed. Aperol Spritz could have been better (tasted flat), but that is the only thing that I could comment on in terms of improvement. Our waiter was lovely and food arrived very quickly.”

“Very nice food - all fresh and hot. I had the miso soup, vegetarian gyozo and a vegetarian sushi platter. Very generous portions too! I couldn’t finish the sushi so took some home. Service was nice and attentive (I asked if they could swap some of my sushi). To be honest I was sceptical reading about sushi in catford (there are not many restaurants here anyways) but I am honestly delighted ❤️”
