OKAN Brixton East
● Closed“Good atmosphere for Sunday evening, our recent experience at Okan Ramen on Coldharbour Lane was the best so far, and its certainly one of Brixton’s culinary assets from a Locals perspective. Its a great place to eat whether dining solo, in a group or pair, and the foods reasonably priced in my view. The ramen was perfectly balanced in flavour, and I definitely recommend the classic ‘Hokkaido Miso Ramen with Chasu Pork’. The others enjoyed their vegan ramens. Its worth getting the japanese tapas as well, which are served quickly before, go for any of the ‘Gyoza Dumplings’ alongside the delicious ‘Padron Peppers’. The drinks were decent, I had couple glasses of white white, enjoyed the Grand Cerdo Blanco (ABV 12.5%), the others were drinking the beer on tap. I was also glad to see the original decor has remained in place. I have always liked the restaurant interior here, with its rudimentary no-thrills presentation contrasted by the classic wooden partition and weathered concrete floor. That mixed with the charming retro japanese memorabilia gracing its walls and the intimate setting makes it worth the visit alone. Not forgetting the refreshingly good service, which can be rare to find in most restaurants. The japanese waitress was really nice and helpful, it made the dining experience super pleasant. The chef also brought out the dishes, which were all decently presented and flavoursome.”

Kiku
● Closed“Hard to go wrong with Kiku. It’s on the pricier side but the food and service are excellent. Been here several times and enjoy the authentic Japanese dining experience. Great all-around sushi in London. Don’t expect fancy sauce glazed rolls but traditional nigiri, maki and even chirashi (sashimi on top of rice). They also have a good variety of cooked dishes including grilled meats and hot pots.”

Ramo Ramen
● Closed“Had been on my bucket list for a while and I had read good reviews so I expected it to be good but it exceeded my expectations. The fusion of Japanese and Filipino food really works. The ramen was so delicious, full of flavour, with a thick and dense broth. The broth itself is already worth it, but everything else is on point. We tried the oxtail one and the meet was so tender and tasty. Staff was also lovely. Will come back and strongly recommend it!”

Oroshi
● ClosedWinchester Walk, London SE1 9AG, United Kingdom“What a lucky find. We got to the market about an hour before closing, but many vendors were already shutting down. We got counter seats here and had delicious food with great company in the kitchen! We ordered the pork dumplings, beef bento and pork belly ramen. Everything was so good, but the dumplings were the star of the show. We ordered a second serving! Definitely recommend going for the suggested chili oil on top. The chef also was happy to give us some recommendations for activities the rest of our trip. Such a great place.”
