“Hired the Buttery for my Mum's 90th Party, excellent service, excellent room, excellent buffet. Also stayed one night in one of the lovely guest rooms, breakfast was really good. Staff, Venue, Food, Drink, Accommodation all first class.”

“Regular visitor to this store as i live only 5 minutes away from it, unfortunately the last year or so the shelfs need to be more heavily stocked, many times there out of stock of everyday items.”

“Absolutely wonderful pub. Tables and chairs around the bar but there is plenty of space there as well. Move away from the bar and there are a number of nooks and crannies to get comfortable in. The furniture is eclectic but comfortable and really does fit with the place. The pub used to brew their own beer but unfortunately had to stop. You will see a number of nice shiny beer vats around. To end, the Guinness was excellent as was the Adnam's Ghost Ship.”

“Just to be clear my scoring system: 1/ Don't go, just don't. 2/ I can't recommend going 3/ I enjoyed it but probably won't go back 4/ I enjoyed it, would go back especially if invited 5/ I enjoyed it, would invite others there myself Honestly I was a touch worried when I entered. It looked just a little bit tired and like a local pub. Should have realised that this just meant it hadn't been turned into a sterile gastropub chain... Because I had the steak. On a hot stone. It was amazing! I love nowhere near... But genuinely if I was anywhere even close I'd go back just to eat that again!!! Service was great and the marquee although temperature went up and down a bit stayed warm enough to keep us comfortable. That steak............”

“A friendly, off-the beaten track local pub, serving great ales direct from the cask. Very traditional interior, and the locals are engaged in funny conversations and banter. This was a great pit stop on our long walk. I think this was how all pubs used to be - a genuine meeting place rather than somewhere to extract money out of you - I hope it never changes!”

“My gosh - this is a fantastic restaurant! The menu is wonderful - I'd have loved to have tried everything on it! The welcome when we arrived made us feel very comfortable and the service was friendly and efficient. The food. Wow, the food!! It was absolutely superb. Everything we ate was just wonderful, and so exciting - exceeding my already high expectations! It was our first visit, but this is a very special restaurant and we will be back very soon!”

“My wife rang on Tuesday evening to find if they had any vegan options available for lunch the following day. She was told they didn't but the chef would sort something out for us. So we booked for 3 adults and one infant. We duly arrived Wednesday lunchtime and were presented with a hand written menu giving us the choice of 4 vegan starters and about 6 vegan lunches. Boy. Were we spoiled!!!! My wife and daughter ordered the Sage and onion vegetable cobbler. I had roasted butternut squash with walnuts, cranberries and pine nuts served with sauteed potatoes, onions and peppers. Our grandson had a starter of garlic chestnut mushrooms served on garlic ciabatta. The portions were more than big enough. The value was fantastic, less than £60.00 for 4 including drinks. Bearing in mind that we could have easily been told there were no options for us, the lengths they went to were incredible. We can only highly recommend this establishment. If you do want to visit and try their vegan options, just give them a day or so notice!”

“Had our Christmas Lunch yesterday it was lovely nice chilled atmosphere, very good service at the right pace didn’t feel rushed. Minor thing not so keen on my desert the Mille Feuille, but everything else was delicious.”

“Absolutely fantastic! Hosted my friends baby shower here and I can’t recommend them enough! So accommodating with budget, decorations, etc unlike other venues! Food was delicious, everyone was catered for and commented on how yummy it was. Cocktails were fab too! Honestly, if you have a party to host or you just want somewhere to go for a coffee…(or something stronger) this is the place to go! Most importantly every staff member was lovely, friendly and helpful! 10 out of 10!”

“Ordered a 3 course Sunday lunch which I collected. Starters was a prawn cocktail with focaccia and butter followed by roast beef, roast turkey, massive yorkshire pudding, 5 separate veggies, including honeyed parsnips and lashings of gravy. Followed by lemon meringue and ice cream, which we ate a couple of hours later. My wife said it was the best roast she had ever had, and I had to agree. Well done the Chequers Inn at Heaverham”

“Fantastic Mediterranean food on the go. Down for a drive from London and stopped off to grab some lunch. Very reasonably priced and delicious wraps. We tried one of each. Quality ingredients and good service. I'll definitely return next time I'm in town.”

“Our initial plan was just to have a cup of coffee before the hike. Then I wanted to have a quick breakfast. Surprisingly the service was very prompt even inside was packed. But I was impressed more by the stylish service and the taste. It's not my local but now and then I want to visit here for their excellent coffee + food + dog friendly”

“We held my uncles Wake at the Harrow Inn yesterday. Alison and Dave were very helpful in making the arrangements over the phone, as we are not from the area. The buffet was plentiful and offered a great selection of tasty food. They were able to cater for our vegan and gluten free family members with a nice selection also. We had use of a private room and indeed the whole bar including the garden, should we have needed it. Friendly hosts and good food, we were pleased we chose this venue and would recommend it!”

“An ideal meeting place for a catch up with a friend. We had a table for two in front of a long fire. Very welcome on a freezing day. The food was very good and not expensive given the quality. But the beer was the highlight. Harvey's Bitter from barrels on the counter behind the bar. Properly kept and served. Wish it was my local.”

“An awesome spot for lunch after a long walk in Knole Park. Smiley faces and big welcomes as soon as you step through the door and the quality continues right through each course until you decide to leave after a couple of pints and warning up by the fire. Food was on point ans service was great, couldn’t fault it on bit.”

“This is definitely one of the nicest place I have been to. I have only been there for a meal twice, and can honestly say that I gave never been disappointed with the meals I had. The first time I went there I gad the roast lamb with vegetables, unfortunately when I got there yesterday the only option available was the roast beef, as the Lamb abd Chicken had all gone & boy oh boy! was I glad. The beef was cooked to absolute perfection by Ben (The Owner) I would suggest phoning at 12.00pm (when they open) or a day or two in advance if possible, to book a table , and get there early.. Ben and his staff are extremely pleasant, & can't do enough to make sure you enjoy your experience of eating at his Pub/Restaurant. I would definitely go again.
