“A great, compact room. Very clean hardwood floors, comfy bed, good shower... what more do you want? Especially given it’s so cheap and close to a tube station. Only minor complaint; was slightly, and I mean slightly, noisy early morning.”

“I stayed here for one night and it was a great experience. I chose the double room (304) and it had a window facing the mews! It was easy to get around the place as well despite my room being on the 3rd floor! The room had all the amenities! It was compact like the Nordic way of living which I enjoyed! I needed a taxi on the day as well and the receptionist ordered it for me! They also phoned my room to let me know my driver had arrived! The receptionists were also fun and nice unlike the reviews which state otherwise. I would definitely pick this place again if I needed to stay in this area for the future. The price was reasonable and since I’m not a coffee or tea person I didn’t really care much about the lack of this in my room. They did have a water jug with glasses which was great! Exactly what I needed after my travel.”

“Amazing experience! I was a walk-in and was serviced right away, no issue at all. My nails were done with precision and care also, which I appreciate when getting any nail designs. I even broke a nail and had it repaired free of charge. The staff here is so lovely and kind as well! I found my new nail salon for life!”

“I checked in on Thursday 2nd November 2017, the check in was very quick and the male receptionist was very pleasant and most helpful, I found the same when checking out on Thursday 9th November 2017. The double room was very clean indeed ( decoration, carpets and most importantly the bed sheets, the bed was very comfortable too ). The bathroom was sparkling and housekeeping staff were very helpful from day one. The freshly cooked breakfast was excellent as was the service, the staff were a credit to Arran Guest House. The Guest House was very convenient to all public transport ( Mainline station and several bus routes ). I enjoyed my stay and could find no faults with the service of the excellent staff, so much so, I intend to return early in the new year. ( It is my pleasure to award Arran Guest House 10 out of 10 for the excellent service from all the staff including how they maintained the internal and external of this lovely property )”

“My first comment is directed at the other travelers - be considerate of those around you. It's not necessary to slam doors or stomp up the stairs. Otherwise, those complaining about small rooms and no lift - you're in London where most buildings are older so just embrace the infrastructure. I had a great stay - front desk was lovely and my room was well cleaned. Great location near Victoria station and lots of food options! Budget friendly hotel. Appreciated the coffee, tea and kettle in the room and also the luggage storage both before and after check out. No complaints and would absolutely return!”

“Booked this hotel about 10 mins before checking in following the one we had booked not being adequate. We didn't have breakfast so cant comment on that but this hotel was great. Basic but modern, stayed in room 7 which was great, lots of room, powerful shower, staff very friendly and couldn't do enough to accommodate us, for the location, the price was excellent. I would 100% stay here again.”

Location was perfect for getting to the O2 Arena as the bus stop was just around the corner and the train station is across the road. Staff were pleasant. “I stayed in room 429 which was very spacious and very clean. The people working in the hotel were very friendly and helpful. There is a local takeaway places close by walking distance. There is also burger king WHSmith next door. Walking is absolutely free on site which is very handy.”

I even left my money, laptop and phone when they were cleaning rooms and everything was just like I left it. Sometimes you need to wait for hot water especially on the 4th floor but that is just gravity, not owners fault.”

“I have stayed here for a few weeks every year for the past 8 yrs It is very convenient for ttravel purposes being a 5min walk from Southfield tube station and approx 12min walk to Wimbledon tennis courts and parks and restaurants i am made to feel part of the the family during my stay in my stunning room with views overlooking the london skyline the hosts are a wonderful family i look forward to spending many more happy holidays there”

“Lovely place to stay. Not too far from the underground, Piccadilly line. Bus stop 2 minute walk. We had the ensuite chalet at the back of the garden and found it very comfortable and quiet. There was a television but we didn't switch it on. There was also a microwave and kettle. Geoff met us at the door and showed us around told us of the local amenities etc. Great bloke. Came to London for a concert and an exhibition. Will definitely stay again.”

“Ok, don't be expecting some plush B&B at this sort of price. Have to say, although Gainsborough Lodge is what you'd class basic accommodation, it is clean and tidy and the front desk was very helpful in helping with a taxi for the airport. If all you need is a reasonably priced bed for the night before an early flight, Gainsborough Lodge is ideal, especially if you take into account their onsite airport parking fees for a week. No one else could touch these prices so close to Gatwick, and there are plenty of good places locally to catch an evening meal before an early flight. Thanks for the stay.”
