“I called into the Vale Restaurant at Orrell this evening with my granddaughter, after she had attended her enrollment evening at the John Rigby College close by. We just wanted to treat ourselves with hot drinks and cakes before we set off for home... and what a treat it was. We had a supreme latte, a supreme drinking chocolate (in two of the largest glasses I have ever seen), and cakes to die for. We even bought cakes to take home. The Manageress Gill was absolutely lovely. She was so friendly and kind. Nothing was too much trouble and she made you feel so welcome. The decor inside the restaurant was tastefully modern, bright, and beautifully clean, and the atmosphere was relaxing and friendly. The bill was pleasantly less than we expected. We will return very soon to savour the afternoon teas and the evening dining experience. Well done Gill - your attention to detail definitely made our visit memorable!!”

“1/03/2023 Review Update. I want to just give a little update to my previous review, I still agree fully with the comments I made about this particular branch of Butty-licious in Billinge, this is one of the nicest places to visit for a quick cuppa, sandwich or lovely hot meal, all the staff are fantastic people who carnt do enough to make sure you are looked after. Today my amazing husband called in as usual on a Wednesday morning to purchase a breakfast sandwich for each of us, TODAY was even more outstanding my hubby brought home for me what he thinks was called a "Miners something" it was beautiful, basically served in a plastic tray with lid and it contained 2 perfectly poached eggs each served on top of a good sized slice of black pudding then both the egg and black pudding where placed on top of a toasted ciabatta slice the best part was the hollandaise sauce poured over each stack of loveliness. Even though it was a take-away order the food was still nice and hot and looked so appetizing it was gone in 60 seconds. Well Done you beautiful people at Butty-licious Billinge. This is my "special place" when feeling low, poorly or lazy here's where I get my "pick me up" Seriously, immaculate modern with country feel, cafe, eat in or take away. All cooked to order fresh, breakfast bin lids, Yorkshire pudding breakfasts, jacket potatoes, sandwiches, nuggets, cotthams pies, home made quiche, energy bars, cakes, scones. Then what ever variation of hot beverage coffee,tea, green tea, coffee with splash of liquor..... If in a hurry I can telephone order then if parking is a little tight at peak times I slow my car "tuck n roll" grab my precious food pay and out. Seriously this place is top class, food is always excellent, the team are so helpful and friendly. I've often arranged to meet friends there enjoyed a great meal excellent value for money, daily papers & magazines are there if I'm early, but why read when you can sit at the window tables and watch the world go by over a steaming hot brew and a full English?.”

Nice to have a decent place where to go from time to time...people should appreciate instead of putting ignorant, damaging reviews: clearly someone has put some effort in this place, and even if it's not always perfect, it's better than any other choice in a 10-mile radius.”

“Fantastic, not often you hear of a pub ran by the same landlords for 20 years, granted it needs a paint but where doesnt. ! ? Quiz nights, live artists, sports all available, cask and real ales with a decent selection of beers, bottles and wine, staff are great too. Along with the customers, chatty and friendly. .kids welcome too.”

“Had a great nights stay at the Red lion. Rooms were spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Evening meal and breakfast were both very tasty and good value. Staff very friendly. I would stay here again.”

“A wonderful community facility. The staff, who are all volunteers, cannot do enough for you. The faculty is clean, functional an well heated. The serve purveys a constant flow of tea and coffee. If you are fortunate as to arrange food then again we'll presented, wholesome repast provide. In summary I want this in my ward.”

“Wigan is so lucky to have the old courts. I’ve been several times and also taken my young grandson to see children's shows. The entertainment is varied and caters for every age and interest. so look at the what’s on program. The building is unique and beautifully restored keeping many original features. Unfortunately access for the less mobile is not very good so check with the staff before booking.”

“I visited the spa last week for a birthday treat with my sister, we had the afternoon tea and spa treatment package absolutely brilliant experience 10/10. The staff were so friendly, professional and welcoming at the spa, and we can honestly say the back massage was the best we have ever experienced,and we have visited quite a few places over the years.The afternoon tea was fresh, tasty and plentiful. Thankyou for a lovely memory made and we can't wait to visit again soon!”
