Orange Park Animal Hospital at Oakleaf

"My most recent experience at Orange Park Animal Hospital was incredibly disheartening. When I brought my dog in for an eye exam, I was hoping for some guidance and understanding. However, the doctor I saw, Dr. Srilatha Kancharkunya, was not the normal doctor on staff. Her incredibly bad bedside manner was immediately evident when, during my dog's eye exam, she abruptly suggested removing both eyes due to advanced glaucoma, without exploring or explaining any other possible options. This left me feeling overwhelmed and incredibly upset. When I tried giving some background on my boy and asking questions about his diagnosis, I felt that the she was dismissing me and not actually listening to my concerns. The standoffish behavior of the staff only added to the negative experience I was already feeling. Overall, I left the office feeling unsupported and dissatisfied with the level of care my pet received. I would not recommend this office to anyone who expects an empathetic and professional staff. Editing to add: Dr. Kancharkunya's last words to me as I walked out of the office were, "Call us when you’re ready to schedule his enucleation (double eye removal surgery)." I found this extremely distasteful and inappropriate, considering I hadn’t even received a recommendation from a specialist yet."

"We love our vet! Thorough, professional, kind! The entire staff is respectful and so kind to our pets. The office is clean and it’s quite easy to get last minute appointments if necessary. I would HIGHLY recommend!"

"Dr. Gillen and his team are outstanding! They are caring, capable and kind. Dr. Gillen never tries to sell unnecessary tests or medications or products (we’ve had that experience other places). He simply focuses on a thorough, practical and effective way to care for our pets. Our kitty had a really bad intestinal infection and, with patience and perseverance, Dr. Gillen brought him back to full health and he is doing great. They were wonderful with our dog as well. I highly recommend Dr. Gillen at Orange Park Animal Hospital."

"It was Labor Day and we just bought a puppy the day before. He was pretty sick and wasn't sure what was wrong with him. I didn't expect any vet to be open and this was the only one I could find open. They so gracefully allowed me to bring my pup in, even though they were booked. I was really impressed despite being busy the vet took his time with my puppy. He explained what type of treatment he should get, etc...... And what was wrong. I actually thought the bill was going to be $$$$$$$ but it was very responsible. I would recommend this vet ER to friends who live near by or even an hour away (like me) if it was truly an emergency and couldn't get into their regular vet. Definitely worth the drive for my puppy. Pics weren't taken at the clinic. Just wanted to post couple pics of my cute puppy."
