Botanic Gardens
“Wonderful gardens with extensive collections of eucalyptus, banksias and other native plants. There are regular (free) guided walks. We went with Pam, a very knowledgeable and interesting botanist. In addition to the plants, there were birds and lizards. Without a car, it's a fairly long walk. The bus service is very poor. But the walk through the University is very attractive. Also a very good cafe.”
Sculpture Garden
“Just lovely spot between the National Gallery and the lake with large modern sculptures spaced among the trees and lawns. Bliss on a sunny autumn day.”
Capital Region Farmers Market
“I absolutely love the Farmers Markets, with an abundance of delicious food from fresh fruit and veggies, cheeses, milk, pasta, chocolate, coffee, meat, deli and bakery items to hot food. It's a nice morning out and best of all, we are supporting locals and surrounding farmers.”

Black Mountain Peninsula Playground
“This place is just awesome - good walks around and places to walk the (on lead) dog. A really great place to do family get togethers. Some of the BBQ spots have lake swimming as well which is terrific for a summertime cool off. The kids play equipment spots are pretty impressive (for a kid) too.”

“Lovely little park with a playground, outdoor celebrations, bbq area, picnic spots and lots of space to spread out. I even saw a wedding taking place by the sun dial! A great place for everyone, including dogs.”
Weston Park
“Weston park is always my goto place if I want to fully relieve myself to throw a line in the water, not for the purpose of catching anything but enjoying the calm nature nearby. Lots of facilities around and the kangaroos. You have two nurseries at the entrance on the peninsula and are great too.”

“Small place for young kids to run about. The birds were very friendly and my 2 and 5 year old had a blast. Would spend just over half an hour here unless you really like birds.”

“I go to this establishment twice a week for circuit training. Plenty of parking, great ammenities, large swimming areas, more than adequate gym equipment and a very good cafe with very polite staff. Well worth a visit for adults and children.”
Kurrajong Point
“A gorgeous spot. There are plenty of barbecues, benches, playgrounds, and tables, with the play station cafe nearby for coffee and ice creams. Great things for the kids to climb on and around too. The walk right around the point is a favourite for cyclists and walkers too for good reason - plenty of beautiful little nooks to sit and enjoy the sun and shade and peer out at the lake.”
Tharwa Sandwash
“Great spot to get wet and it's safe and easy to get to. Remember to slip slop slap.”
Honeysuckle Campground
“A family favourite. We've come back here over and over again through the years. Lots of history and plenty of rocks and sisters for the kids to explore. The walk up to Booroomba Rocks is great, although it's 11km round trip from the campsite. You can cut it down to 2.5km if you drive to the car park. Very well with seeing the view. Pro tip: take the path to the right about 10m before the end of the trail marker. This will take you to Ed's Chair, which is a much more spectacular view.”

Lanyon Homestead
“Had one the most amazing sunny and beautiful brunch. Food is good and delicious. The ambiance and spread of the homestead is beyond words. The whole place looks as if some one created from a painting. The lush green stretch, wonderful gardens , dreamy mountain line in background and the giant fairytale pumpkins - hard to pick which will blow your mind. If you have kids they will enjoy as well in the open green fields. This place is a must go .”

Jack Ross Park
“What a beautiful little park! We were walking along the water’s edge heading for Kingston and accidentally came upon this park. It’s small, but really well designed and filled with a variety of plantings among galvanized steel fencing. It overlooks the water and has great views in all directions. There’s ample shaded seating and lots of different areas where you can just sit and relax and maybe enjoy some takeout from the nearby restaurants.”
Beijing Garden
“Very serene and great for morning walks during Autumn season. Loved it.”
Remembrance Nature Park
“Lovely walk and great views of wildlife, captured these two young fellas in the treat stalking me.”
National Museum of Australia
“Great museum (probably the best we visited in Canberra) to spend a few hours. There’s a variety of exhibits showcasing everything from dinosaur skeletons to cars to Australian history. The design of the space is also really interesting—the building is set up so you almost get sucked into an area and then find yourself wandering around before you exit into a different themed room with a completely different atmosphere. We combined this visit with a trip to the National Capital Exhibition and Commonwealth Park which was a short walk or Uber away, which was nice because we then got to view the roller coaster shaped National Museum building from a distance. It’s also worth mentioning that the small but really well maintained gardens outside this museum were stunning and very educational. Definitely spend some time exploring this green space. Overall, highly recommend and a must do when visiting Canberra!”
Canberra Nature Park, O'Connor Ridge
“The ridge is a beautiful place to walk your dog so close to the City Its tempting to want to take your dog off lead but don't as fleeing kangaroos run the risk of becoming road kill, the reserve is a relatively narrow nature strip flanked by busy Gungahlin Drive to the West and Dryandra St at its East. The Kangaroos are tame enough that you can get relatively close and there is an array of exotic Australian birds. Great views to the city and beyond and if you do walk your dog you might cross Fairfax St at the Southern end to the Inner North Dog Park for a puppy social and water top up.”
Brad Haddin Oval (Town Park, Central Park)
“My dog loves this park. I love the number of free “doggo waste bag” dispensers. Also a great place to play Pokémon go. I no longer play but when I did years ago it was the best location in Queanbeyan / better than most in Canberra”

“Fantastic gym. The trainers are highly skilled and the small group classes provide individualised supervised training in a fun environment. The facilities are beautiful, it feels like a resort. Highly recommend Aequus to anyone needing to improve their health and well-being.”
Beaumont Tiles Fyshwick
“Beaumont Tiles Fyshwick were fantastic to deal with when we recently completed our bathroom/toilet upgrade. Ebony was very knowledgeable about Beaumont products and the different options that some of the vanities came with. I would have no hesitation recommending both Beaumont Tiles and their customer service member Ebony to any of my friends requiring bathroom products/tiles. Very happy customer here.”
Weereewa Lookout
“Actually, it's a nice clean lookout. A few of the lookouts in the ACT are very untidy, but this one (just over the border in NSW) was fantastic. Lovely view over Lake George. You can do a short drive down to the Lake George rest area (directly below the lookout) where there are also BBQ and toilet facilities.”
Red Hill Nature Reserve
“Amazing spot to see the whole of Canberra, especially early in the morning to see sunrise in peace with the kangaroos. You can walk from the bottom or drive up to the car park at the top next to the café if you prefer. You can then take a moment to see an almost 360 degree view of Canberra and the surrounding suburbs from a unique perspective almost in the middle of the city.”
