Services Offered:

- Change of Address: To update your address, please complete the shaded areas on the Change of Address form for each vehicle, date, and sign. Mail your request to: Knox County Clerk Attn: Motor Vehicle P.O. Box 1566 Knoxville, TN 37901. Remember, it's crucial to notify the county clerk of all vehicles registered in your name to ensure your renewal notices are deliverable.

- Wheel Tax Information: Knox County imposes a $36.00 wheel tax on all motorized vehicles and cycles, excluding trailers. Certain exemptions apply under the Wheel Tax Ordinance (O-04-5-101(a)). For 2024 renewals, check the 2024 Affidavit for Wheel Tax Exemption to see if you qualify.

- Insurance Requirements: As per Tennessee's Financial Responsibility Law (TCA 55-12-139), all vehicle owners must maintain proof of liability insurance or a verifiable exemption. If your insurance cannot be confirmed by the Tennessee Department of Revenue's EIVS, you will receive a notice to provide proof via DrivelnsuredTN.

- Title and Registration: All vehicle owners, except registered dealers, must obtain a title in their name. Apply for a Certificate of Title and Registration at any of the six Knox County Clerk's office locations. Please allow 10-15 business days for title processing. Annual renewal is required once your vehicle is properly titled and registered.

- Reinstatement Fee Payment: You can pay your reinstatement fee while renewing your tags at our office. This requires proof of valid insurance and an additional $150.00 fee. Accepted payment methods include cash, cashier's check, money order, or debit/credit cards.
