"Awful! They were contracted through Lowe’s to replace our siding and gutters, which took a week to do. Worst financial mistake we’ve ever made. The work took place in Dec of 2020 and we’re still dealing with the aftermath in 2024. To start, they broke one of our Christmas inflatables in the yard from being careless and walking over the plug. They left nails and trash all over our yard the first day after removing siding. I had small kids and a dog, so I picked it all up myself, about a Walmart bag full of trash. I found scraps from their lunch in the yard too, bread crusts, apple cores, etc. I came home one day and saw one of the men peeing at the side of my house, if this tells you the type of people they brought to our house. Our back deck had recently been stained and that was ruined. It was cold and muddy and they tracked mud all over and used my deck rails to climb on rather than use a ladder on the deck, so stain was scraped off the rails as well as the deck boards. That all had to be cleaned and restained. I haven’t even gotten to the work yet! The first time we had a gust of wind, a strip of siding blew off. We had them come out and fix it. But then it became frequent. Several pieces would blow off if it was windy. We learned how to pop them back on ourselves. Not what I’d expect to have to do after paying for something like that. It happened so often that we eventually had someone else come out and fix it. Not to mention, the siding is wavy and looks terrible. I’m pretty sure I could’ve done a better job by watching a YouTube tutorial. Our gutters leak in several places. Our old gutters from the 90s didn’t leak at all. We just replaced them to match, but I regret that too. And still, 3 years later, pieces of flashing blow off and land in the yard when it’s really windy. I’m not sure if it’s the old flashing that they were too lazy to throw away and left in the gutters or if it’s the new flashing. Either way, I’ve picked up at least 10 pieces since the job was done. We also have to pop our downspouts back on from time to time because the single screw they used to hold it on has come loose. We had exterior doors and windows replaced at the same time by different contractors that was great. The siding and gutters was by far the shottiest work by the most unprofessional people I’ve ever encountered, and unfortunately, I’m constantly reminded of the money wasted every time the wind blows."
"We hired him to build our home last year . It took over a year to complete the project. Hardly ever on site to supervise his crew. Didn't order the supplies for each step of the build until the last minute. My wife and I had constantly check on his. Still won't return and problems in with electric and plumbing nor in our yard. I could go on but I 'm calling the B B B ."
"Please reconsider if you are looking at hiring this company. My husband and I had this company subcontracted (hired by Lowe’s) to replace the gutters on our home. Unfortunately, not only were the gutters done incorrectly, but the team leader was unprofessional. The company came out in mid-June, showing up late to the house, with their dilapidated truck, pre-cut gutters and trailer hitch (with cutting machine) and proceeded to get to work. Their crew was three guys (one guy who cuts the gutters, the other two to remove/install). Like most gutter companies, they began removing the old existing gutters. However, the screws they removed were littered all over our yard - and one we suspect led to our dog cutting his paw in our backyard. To this day, we are still finding these screws in our garden beds around our home. Once all the gutters and pieces were removed, the two main guys began in the back of the house. The first worker was on the roof screwing in the gutter, while the other worker was holding the newly cut gutter up. Each section of gutter was put up crooked, and at a 20 degree sloping angle compared to the other side. Not only that, but they were placed too low to collect the water. We also found each section had a gap between the framing and the gutter itself, allowing water to flow behind the gutter, and without flashing to protect the wood framing. In addition to all of this, the downspouts never went all the way down and they used the old support pieces to connect the downspouts to the framing of our house (which eventually disconnected at the first rainstorm we had). As if this was not insufficient enough, the worker who had screwed the gutters up, did so in between the crossbeams, so each of the screws he used went all the way through the boards, not only exposing the screw ends but also creating holes in the wood that would allow carpenter bees to burrow into. After all this was said and done, and the crew was packing up to leave, my husband approached the cutting man/crew lead to discuss his concerns with their work. The guy explained that gutters were supposed to be angled and lower; that is just the way they are done. When my husband asked why the gutters did not go all the way down, the man replied that is how all gutters are done now. My husband, dissatisfied, immediately called Lowe’s to report the horrible job the team had done. That evening, when it rained, the gutters were ineffective. Water flowed in streams behind all the gutters, creating water droplets that began hitting the wooden siding of our house. The downspouts disconnected from the house. Between the time that my husband had contacted Lowe’s and I got home from work, Lowe’s has contacted the company and told the guy who had come out earlier about our dissatisfaction, in hopes of us remediating the situation. When I spoke to the man and explained our unhappiness with the gutters, he dismissed me stating that my husband did not seem upset. When I questioned him stating my husband had addressed these same concerns, he asked to talk to the man of the house, which I would not do. He got so disgruntled, he hung up on us stating that since we were at an impasse, he was done. My husband and I were upset. We went back to Lowe’s asking for someone to come out to review their work. It has taken us two months, but finally Lowe’s contacted another contracting company to fix the issues, which even Lowe’s felt was done incorrectly. When you spend thousands of dollars on your home, you expect the company to do the job correctly. All of the gutters that the team at E. L. Davis Construction put up had to be completely replaced by the new contracting company. Thankfully, we did not directly hire this company or we would not only be out of the money, but we would still have the gutter doing damage to our home. I urge you to reconsider before hiring this company."
