"Fishing for 1? Trail almost inaccessible only to open up to a spot on river big enough to accommodate one person."
"Very nice, new, paved multi-use trail extends east from here to Navajo Lane & Hwy 149 in Burns Harbor. Features include a bridge over Salt Creek, an ADA-friendly switchback with a rest & viewing platform, and varied environments include oak woods, prairie, swamp and marsh. Trail will extend east and west as part of the Marquette Greenway trail stretching from Chicago to New Buffalo, MI."
"Next Level Trails funded the 2022/2023 Marquette Greenway Salt Creek connector. (edit) August 2023 Marquette Greenway connects Portage to State Road 149 in Burns Harbor. Engineering & grant work anticipate trail passing under the Norfolk Southern bridge and across Mnoke Praire toward Bailey Homestead. That point is currently accessible from east on Haglund Road then north on Babcock Road"
"After walking a short ways to the right, the weeds got taller & the path got narrower. Turned around, walked back & went left. A little better but not maintained at all. Just tried this trail again, hoping it was better, but sadly disappointed. So much overgrowth that we had to turn around & leave."
"Do not, absolutely do not, attempt to hike here. One trail was so bad the dog and I only made it two or three minutes before turning back. The east trail had a few clear spots but the rest was so overgrown with weeds, or covered in downed limbs that my legs were so tore up by the time we made it to the water that even if he'd wanted to play in the water, we had to turn around and go right back. This one rivals Walner in Chesterton as worst kept trail of the year."
